I really hope that the surgery reflect on these reviews because as the volumes grow they will become a good way for staff to detect trends in feedback patients provide and which that they can then address. My Doctor - Catherine Brown - is second to none. She is an exemplary professional who makes sensible decisions about patient care, and I am very confident that I will receive excellent guidance when I seek medical advice. My main issue is with the repeat prescription situation - the online system was replaced by a new system but there is no communication online to let people know of the need to re-register to use the new process. Additionally, despite the fact that I have been a patient at this surgery for many many years I am being told that I need to prove my identity by bringing in a passport or driver license which means I now need to take time off work to get to the surgery with one of these documents. (I can assure the medical profession...I have absolutely no desire to impersonate someone who has a long standing health condition. Common sense should prevail in terms of identity verification!) My second issue is related to the process internally with repeat prescriptions - I took a morning off work to come into the surgery to make a specific request, yet despite very very carefully writing out the item I needed on the form I was prescribed the wrong item. This is not the first time this has happened, it has been a recurring issue for numerous years. Please improve the administration process, this is a waste for the NHS as incorrectly dispensed items legally cannot be returned to the pharmacy. Finally, I'd suggest that the registration forms that are required both for the online repeat prescriptions and for the now stringently checked NHS exemption certificates are available via the surgery website. This will save the surgery time and money in the printing and dishing out of these forms so staff can focus on answering phones or can deal with patients coming in for appointments...and allow patients who go to work to get on with their daily lives without chasing around trying to get hold of paperwork which is not a health issue and therefore doesn't come under a reason to be allowed time off work.

Dr Andy Hodson and Dr Greaves are very good doctors in my experience and I have been very pleased with the care I have received from them both. Consistently good and understanding. I would recommend them both. The problem with the surgery is getting through on the telephone and the lack of appointments. There was one time recently when I was calling on a Monday morning when surgery opened. I made 82 call backs before I was successful in getting into the queue. The process of getting through to speak to a receptionist took 22 mins. I was then told there were no appointments left for that day and I would need to call again the next day. It was very frustrating. I recognise this might be an exception but I always have difficulty getting through first thing in the morning and getting an appointment at a time that fits in with my work and travel arrangements (I work 40 miles away and have to make up the time I'm not in the office). The receptionists could be more paient and understanding. The Phlebotomist is very efficent but there is no cover for her when she is away and it would be helpful the have appointments on Saturdays, even for one Saturday a month. The nurses are very good and couldn't be nicer. The communication of recent changes has been very poor. I've been left not being able to order a repeat prescription because the system has changed and I now have to go into the surgery to register before I an reorder. There has been no proactive communication to existing online users that the system is no longer valid and patients need to re register. The old online system needs to be disabled as it's confusing that you can still log in and get id/password reminders. This gives the impression it is still in use but it's not working.
