This used to be such a great surgery. Great doctors and nurses on staff.
Their appointment booking system has just radically changed, in that you can no longer book an appointment, but have to fill out endless forms and symptom checkers online.
This has put up many obstacles into seeing your regular doctor, who may have guided you through years of sickness. Now the chances of seeing your regular doctor are slim.
A frightening change for those who are really sick, and need to see their doctor.
I was with the Carepoint Surgery Northwood, but due to lack of patient care after being involved in a RTA decided to leave the practice after being with them for 4 years. My partner's fitness instructor recommended I change to the Mountwood Surgery as she had always received excellent treatment. I attend the surgery on Monday afternoon to see the emergency Doctor due to my injuries still giving me pain. I was extremely satisfied with the way I was treated and diagnosed. She respected my dignity - I was given a full examination - sent for an XRay along with Blood Tests. In other words, I was given a full going over and I felt that she cared about my health and welfare. I would also like to thank the Receptionist and Admin staff who were also very helpful. I should have joined this surgery ages ago. I now feel that I will be looked after and monitored they way I should be. I cannot thank you enough.
I would like to thank Dr Allen for looking after me, he is very caring and helpful, makes you feel at ease. I saw 2 other doctors before Dr Allen they were very off, and didn’t listen to me, Dr Allen was quick to find out what was wrong with me, and even rang me quite a few times to keep me up to date, he’s an asset to the surgery
Absolute disgrace of a practice, the staff are rude and arrogant. I have a long term back injury, my bottom disc is crushed and when it flairs up I am almost paralysed. I phoned this morning to see a doctor but I was phoned back within 30 seconds of my 1st call. In that time it was impossible for the nurse, Lisa, to lool at my notes and see my history. She didn't bother and told me in a very passive aggressive way to take paracetamol and ibuprofen! Neither of which do anything for pain like this. I didn't even want painkillers, I want muscle relaxants! I was made to feel like some junkie trying to score a hit. This is the second time I have been treated this way at this surgery. I have been made to feel small and stupid by professionals who should know better. A disgraceful healthcare establishment.
One key feature of this Surgery is the range and level of expertise within and between the doctors and practice staff. I have been registered with them and their predecessor surgery for 17 years. I have not needed them much but when I have it has been for major health issues - cardiac problems, renal/kidney issues, diabetes and sepsis. With each episode of care I was booked in with the most appropriate GP and given exemplary care. The links with local pharmacies for repeat prescriptions make it easy to have ongoing drug treatment.
The Specialist Clinics are also a positive feature - in particular The Asthma Clinic, The Diabetic Clinics and the Paediatric Clinics.
Everyone I know in Northwood who belong to this Surgery are appreciative of it and happy with it.
