Appointments are very difficult to make due to having to ring up on the day , which causes stress levels to rise , why are people who need health care have to jump through hoops to see a doctor, I and other members of my family have found that trying to contact a doctor and be seen by a doctor very difficult indeed .

Response from Gold Street Surgery

Apologies for the seemingly delayed response. As on previous replies, our appointments system is always under review. Bookable appointments are available up to 6 weeks in advance for routine matters, and on the day for urgent treatment. GP's, nurses and HCA's now have routine bookable appointments available at weekends if this helps. Please contact us for further information.

We are lucky to have this surgery. My only complaint is the difficulty getting through on the phone first thing in the morning - and if you can't get through to make an appointment, you lose. That's stressful. Perhaps if folks were allowed to make appointments in advance this wouldn't happen. But the doctors are good, and the wait in the waiting room is reasonable. Dr Iqbal in particular is excellent. He really listens.

I have been 4 times to the surgery about the same issue and in the end self diagnosed which was confirmed by a doctor. Also it is unacceptable to have to fight loads of people just before 8am for an appointment, and crazy that you can't book an appointment for a few days ahead, that it has to be on the day. Thats ok for those who don't work, but for those of us who do which is probably most of the patients this is very stressful and can stop us from going to see a doctor when we really should be. Also very annoying seeing as those of us who work are the ones contributing to the NHS not those sitting on their bottoms all day long who can call at 8am and drop everything on the day for an appointment. Please I beg you rethink this it is causing the majority of us a lot of stress and increasing bad health as this causes a lot of us to not be able to see a doctor. I run my own business I have to get cover for appointments etc. Which need a few days notice, I cannot just drop everything on the day.

Response from Gold Street Surgery

Apologies for the delayed response. IT problems have prevented an earlier one. As in previous responses, we continually review our appointments system and staffing levels. I am happy to discuss with you.

Very complicated system for registering to get on-line prescriptions. I'm sure that only an extremely small proportion of people have worked it out. It should be made easier.

The registration for on-line access is complex. Once registered you have access to personal confidential medical information. Practices take great care to protect your information and must be sure that access is given ONLY to the correct person. Staff here are happy to help with registration.
