Under the conditions in which they operate ie the number of patients and location, it would be difficult to improve the service to any great extent. The staff are always pleasant and helpful which is a definite positive in this day and age.

I have had to make numerous appointments over the past year because of my major heart surgery. The reception staff have without exception moved heaven and earth to meet my need for appointments often at very short notice, with members of the clinical staff. I have received exemplary empathetic care from Nursing, health technicians and all the doctors I have seen. The care I have received has been exemplary, and my present good health is without doubt due to the dilligence and expertise of the clinical staff, especially Dr Rachel Starer who has been tremendously supportive during the long road to recovery. In essence, this is an excellent patient focussed practice, that does everything possible, to ensure we have the best health care possible, despite the enourmous work load.

I was impressed that I was able to get an appointment for blood tests and a GP appointment on the same day and with just a short wait in between. Also the surgery was not as warm as it often is which makes the wait more comfortable.

My father was promised an urgent prescription for antibiotics by the doctor on Friday. As he is housebound the prescription was to be delivered to his house from the pharmacy. When the prescription did not arrive my mother telephoned the pharmacy on Saturday morning (17thJan 2015) to be told that they had not received the prescription from the doctor. My father has a history of chest infections and was hospitalised several year ago for pneumonia and nearly died. He has had to go all week end with out his medicines. SHAME ON YOU!

Response from Didcot Health Centre

We are sorry to hear that your father had such a negative experience. Obviously we have not been able to investigate what happened but occasionally prescriptions do go astray, both at the pharmacy and in the GP practice. In such situations, however, the weekend out of hours service (telephone 111) is able to prescribe emergency medication where appropriate, even if a prescription has already been issued. We hope that your father has now recovered. In the meantime, if you would like us to investigate this particular event please contact the Practice Manager, Dr Jackie Mercer.
