My father was promised an urgent prescription for antibiotics by the doctor on Friday. As he is housebound the prescription was to be delivered to his house from the pharmacy. When the prescription did not arrive my mother telephoned the pharmacy on Saturday morning (17thJan 2015) to be told that they had not received the prescription from the doctor. My father has a history of chest infections and was hospitalised several year ago for pneumonia and nearly died. He has had to go all week end with out his medicines. SHAME ON YOU!

Response from Didcot Health Centre

We are sorry to hear that your father had such a negative experience. Obviously we have not been able to investigate what happened but occasionally prescriptions do go astray, both at the pharmacy and in the GP practice. In such situations, however, the weekend out of hours service (telephone 111) is able to prescribe emergency medication where appropriate, even if a prescription has already been issued. We hope that your father has now recovered. In the meantime, if you would like us to investigate this particular event please contact the Practice Manager, Dr Jackie Mercer.
