I find the surgery pleasant enough, I cannot get an appointment with the Dr I usually see when I need it and have to wait until the next bookable appointment which is usually a week or two away. As I have a hearing problem I find the doctors are not always clear and loud enough for me to hear when they call for you, and some even sound like they are in a hurry as all you hear is a gabble and no clear words. I am glad to see that the room numbers have been made more readable for those visually impaired. The staff are pleasant and helpful all though some donot seem to have the same amount of knowledge as others and mislead you.

It is very difficult to get appointments and when you do get them the doctors don't seam to be interested in finding out what is wrong with you! They just fob you off with the easiest thing for them to get you out the door ASAP! They don't seem to actually want to get to the real thing that is wrong! I went in recently at 8:05, for an appointment with either a nurse or doctor, as I had pain in my ear and was told there were no appointments so it would have to be a phone appointment! That's all well and good but they needed to look in my ear! I just keep having bad experiences with them and when you have a life long illness you feel like you shouldn't have to fight to see your GP or have them keep fobbing you off! Complete joke!!!

I went to the surgery on the 12-5-2015 and got an appointment on the 13-5-2015, at a time that suited me, although I didn't see our family Dr, I did get to see one of the Dr's which although not famliar with was a good Dr and was pleased with the care I was given

I am unclear why I have to explain my concerns to a receptionist for them to 'vet' why I need to see a doctor. The doctor then telephones me, we have a chat and then I get asked to go and see them, completely invalidating the phone call. You cant get an appointment for love nor money and its nuts.

Response from Didcot Health Centre

I am sorry that you feel you have had problems getting an ‘on the day’ appointment. The doctors have asked our receptionists to request an indication of the problem from all patients who call for an ‘on the day’ appointment. You don't have to answer this question, but it does help the doctor to determine who needs to be contacted most urgently. The doctor might then decide while speaking to you that a visit to the Health Centre is not necessary and self-care advice is given instead. There are always ‘on day’ appointments available for patients that the doctor decides need to be seen. This system helps us ensure that on day appointments at the surgery are reserved for those patients for whom they are most appropriate. We will always respect your privacy and anything you tell any member of staff will be kept confidential.
