Went in to get help being referred for mental health all was fine until I got into the consultant room. I gave my information about the problems including the romanticism of suicide and thoughts of suicide. All of this was written down but I had to prompt the use of first step and was then given no information about how I would be contacted or if I should contact them. It's now weeks later I have contacted them.myself and have not been referred at all despite the aformentioned suicidal thoughts and romanticism of that along with serious depression and anxiety.
I think they need to improve getting test results back to patients rather than filing the results......I went for a fast track gastroscopy on Monday and was told the report would be with the doctor the following day and nothing else. When I called the following day I was initially told the results were not in then I was told they had just come in and were with the doctor - I was reassured that I would get a call back. Nothing happened so I called back the following morning and was told that the results were not back. I queried this and again told the results were not in BUT she then found blood test results from the previous week that had not been fed back to me.
It seems that neither the hospital or the GP's are taking any responsibility for telling patients the results of tests and it is being left in the hands of the receptionists who are not medically qualified to discuss the results. Forgive me but this doesn't inspire me with confidence surely the patient should be the first person to know their results.
my sister rang for an appointment today 53 times in half an hour ... when they botherd to answer she was told the first appointment available was 17 days away .she asked infact more like pleaded with them for another closer appointment but the answer was a firm no. .she asked to see her doctor at another surgery and was told try again on monday.... ,why cant you give me an appointment for monday she asked... . oh no was the responce you will have to ring another 53 times to see if we answer on monday // people can live and die in 17 days this service is NO service with no doctors and unhelpfull jobsworth staff who wont go that extra step to help you ..... ... shut the spot down if you cant give a better a service than this . a spell in the dole que might sharpen up your unhelpfull receptionists who seem unable to complete the simple task of picking up a phone and helping someone .ive downloaded your complaint form for her and you wont hear the last of this . your allso on whitehaven name an shame . ENJOY /////
I particularly wanted to see Dr X for continuity regarding an existing condition. I live in Cleator Moor but established that he was at Egremont today and fought my number through ‘the number you have dialled is engaged’ to secure an appointment only to end up being diverted to a nurse practitioner about 25 minutes after the stipulated time as Dr X was dealing with an emergency. I bumped into him on leaving the nurse practitioner’s room but will assume that he had returned and I had been unlucky - life happens!!! The appointment resulted in blood tests scheduled for 22 December but could I book a follow up appointment with Dr X? – no, I was told that I would have to wait until the results are through. and then go through the on the day sysem. Surely this could have been arranged today, is this 2016 or 1996?
My daughter who regularly sees a consultant at west Cumberland hospital made an appointment to see a gp at fellview, it was a locum gp whom after precisely ten minutes and when my daughter was still talking told her that her appointment was over as she had had her ten minutes!! I hope this locum doesn't treat every patient in the same manner.
