It took me a week to get an appointment with a GP, because you can't book in advance. Finally I got through on Wednesday and got an appointment for today, but last night I got a voicemail to say sorry we have had to cancel because gp is off sick. I realise that even doctors are ill sometimes and this can't be helped, so as instructed I rang this morning to rearrange. After being in a queue for 50 minutes I had to hang up the call. I had also been calling both surgeries from my mobile while in the queue from my landline in the hope that one would be answered. I finally got through to assarts at 10.30, just to have the phonecall cut off! Seriously considering changing my GP now as getting the phone answered is a joke, and getting an appointment to see a Doctor is just too difficult....
I've just been on the phone for 55 minutes, they picked up about 45 minutes in, I was waiting for a greeting and I didn't get one. Instead I am there shouting "Hello" down the phone to see if I can get an answer. After 10 minutes I gave up, this is absolutely ridiculous. Getting in touch with them takes over an hour and getting seen by the doctor takes a minimum of 6 weeks if you want your own GP. Ridiculous, never recommending to anyone.
Dr Khalique had been my gp on and off for 26 years since I was 16, seen me through my 3 children, the death of one of my children and in the last 3 1/2 years gone above and beyond to help my son and I. The best GP I will ever meet and sad to see him leave, but all the best for his future.
I would like the doctors to take mental illness a lot more serious .
Because of them not taking me serious I don't think I'll be seeing my 25th birthday.
