I have complained about the appointments system on several occasions. They have heard me (the staff do try their best) but I’m not sure the admin are listening (“we are not as bad as other surgeries in Kirkcaldy”) as very little has changed over the past couple of years. What I don’t understand is why the appointments system seems to work well in some Kirkcaldy surgeries but not others. Don’t they all follow good practice rather than operate in silos? Trying to get through at 8.30am or soon after is practically impossible for working people who can’t sit by a phone all day. When, eventually you do, the appointments “are all gone”. I appreciate there are well-publicised GP surgery issues U.K. wide but some seem to adapt and cope to changing situations a lot better than others. Also incomprehensible is that the wait for a telephone consultation is as long as a normal face-to-face appt.

Sick of trying to justify why my child needs an appointment.... never seen the same gp once in 4 years . And then you only get to see the nurse practitioner . Who then makes out your a neurotic mum. Going to try and change surgery’s as im tired of struggling to get an appointment and then having to justify myself like I’m a hypochondriac. I’ve never seen such a quiet waiting room so why are there so little appointments available

The appointment system is a joke you can never get one. You phone in the morning and yes you can get a call back or an emergency appointment on the same day but it’s always late and it’s 3 mins in and out. If you get a routine appointment it can be 6 weeks ahead of time. They are so busy and not enough staff to work there it’s impossibilie to get one and if your working it’s hard to make on at a time that suits as 6 weeks is to long the works timetable is not made up that far ahead. Otherwise a fantastic surgery.

It can be hard to get an appointment as phoning at 8am for same day one and 8.30 for routine ones it’s very hard to get through as it’s engaged all the time. Making it easier would be good. The surgery is fantasic really lovley people and very clean. Very pleased overall.

The appointment system is a joke. You see the doctor who tells you she wants to see you back in 4 weeks time after a course of treatment. Tell the receptionist that ... never once have I been able to get my next appointment before leaving the surgery! They’re all booked up ... or those appointments haven’t been released yet! Don’t the doctors know this? Is it all a big secret?? Are all our doctors part time? How many are actually working at any given time? This waiting room has to be the lowest occupied in the whole country ... yet we have the longest waiting times for appointments ... even for blood tests I had to wait over a month!! Something is not adding up in this practice. It’s second rate health care at best
