I have complained about the appointments system on several occasions. They have heard me (the staff do try their best) but I’m not sure the admin are listening (“we are not as bad as other surgeries in Kirkcaldy”) as very little has changed over the past couple of years. What I don’t understand is why the appointments system seems to work well in some Kirkcaldy surgeries but not others. Don’t they all follow good practice rather than operate in silos? Trying to get through at 8.30am or soon after is practically impossible for working people who can’t sit by a phone all day. When, eventually you do, the appointments “are all gone”. I appreciate there are well-publicised GP surgery issues U.K. wide but some seem to adapt and cope to changing situations a lot better than others. Also incomprehensible is that the wait for a telephone consultation is as long as a normal face-to-face appt.
