A faultless experience from start to discharge. A delightful, caring human being and superb surgeon. I had been 'nursing' an inguinal hernia for some years, being too terrified (bad experience as a child) to have the op done, but finally had no option - if only I'd known of Professor Lloyd years ago I wouldn't have had to be ruled by the hernia for so long. I was recommended to see the Professor by a patient of mine who also had had a brilliant experience and outcome at his hands (following a nasty skiing accident). The Professor put me at my ease from the first consultation and the outcome was brilliant in all respects: he's given me my life back. I cannot recommend him highly enough, and will be strongly recommending him to any of the large number of people I meet who might require his ministrations. My deepest thanks to him.

I saught Professor Lloyd's advice on a lump in my groin which i thought was an inguinal hernia. A prompt consultation was arranged and he confirmed the diagnosis, pointing out that I had one on each side. After a full explanation of the pros and cons we agreed that a laparoscopic repair to both would be done at once under general anaesthetic and a date for surgery was very promptly made The operation went very well and when Professor Lloyd came to see me afterwards he fully explained everything and was most caring After one very comfortable night he came to discharge me in the morning making it clear that should I need anything at all I should contact him at once I wholeheartedly recommend Professor Lloyd for his expertise and taking great care of me

Right from the first consultation to the closure of my case I was treated with dignity and respect. All questions were gladly and clearly answered and my procedure was clearly explained. He was very reassuring and genuinely seemed to care.

I developed a large incisional hernia after having successful open AAA surgery in October 2020. As there was very little prospect of having my hernia repaired on the NHS in the near future and after researching my options on line I decided to consult Professor David Lloyd at Spire Leicester Hospital. This meant me travelling to Leicester from Liverpool but I considered it worthwhile because of Professor Lloyds expertise and excellent reputation in hernia repair surgery. During my initial consultation Professor Lloyd examined me and confirmed it would be possible for him to undertake an open mesh reinforced hernia repair operation and he would make arrangements for me to be admitted. He went on to advise that it was a big operation and would mean a few overnight stays in hospital depending on my initial recovery. On the day of the operation I travelled from Liverpool and was admitted at 11.00 am on 13 October 2021. Prior to me going down for surgery Professor Lloyd visited my room and explained the procedure to me, he also fully answered all my questions. After the operation at around 5.00pm I was back in my room and sitting up having a light meal. My initial recovery was good and I was scheduled to be discharged on Friday 15th. Professor Lloyd called to see me prior to my discharge and assured me the opp had gone well and asked how I was feeling; he made a thorough examination of the operation site and went on to explain that I would be sore for a few weeks and that I should continue with the pain relief meds. He assured me that if I needed anything at all I should contact his office and he would get back to me. Professor Lloyd telephoned me on 28 October to check on my recovery and I advised him I was doing well and felt better each day that passed. I did have some reservations about travelling nearly three hours each way from Liverpool to Leicester but now three weeks on I have no doubt that my faith in Professor Lloyd has been fully justified.

I was under the care of Professor Lloyd for a laparoscopic cholecystectomy in October 2021, and can say that the level of care I received prior, during and post procedure has been outstanding. This has been my first experience of any kind of medical consultation, surgical procedure or general anaesthetic, so had potential to be a daunting process. My initial referral to Professor Lloyd and the initial consultation was timely, professional and done in a very reassuring manner, with every opportunity for me to understand the process, and clear explanation of what would happen at each stage, and why. I was made to feel comfortable throughout the whole consultation process, including the procedure itself. In terms of recovery post-procedure, I was able to walk unaided and eat normally later the same day, and the surgical wounds were almost unnoticeable after 10 days. An excellent experience throughout. Many thanks to Professor Lloyd and the team. One final point to mention is that, throughout the consultation, all precautions relating to COVID19 were fully in place and strictly adhered to by all staff. I think this provided a further level of reassurance during my time in the hospital.
