Mrs Isabella Karat

I feel extremely lucky to have had Mrs Karat as my surgeon for my breast cancer operation. She had a professional but very human approach to an unpleasant and unexpected diagnosis. I found her to be supportive and understanding at every step of the way, and her natural humour helped to lighten the mood and keep me positive. I would like to say a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I went for my consultation with Isabella to sort out my encapsulated implants & from the moment she greeted me at the door I instantly liked her & felt she was perfect for me. She listened to me and then in plain English explained my options with a smile & humour. I completely felt she understood my hopes for a final result. I left with all my homework & before reaching the car decided I was definitely going ahead with her. I optioned to have the implants removed from behind the muscle & replaced in front using the same implants as they were only four years old.On the morning of my surgery she was just so relaxed & calming,I never felt that I could feel so chilled. My result is absolutely everything I’d hoped for. I couldn’t be happier with how they look & feel. Such a lovely lady who talks to you just like a friend would & not purely from a medical position.

I have been wanting to have breast reduction surgery for many years, never having the confidence or belief in options explored until I had an initial consultation with Mrs Karat. I felt totally confident in her expertise, her understanding of any reservations, the time she was happy to spend explaining the procedure and recovery and answering my endless questions. In addition, her relaxed and friendly manner turned my reservations and fear into excitement. The operation went extremely well and, whilst recovery is not to be taken lightly, Mrs Karat gave clear guidance on the best recovery path and the end result is so good. Sophie was also an amazing, super efficient and super friendly part of the team. It's a life changing experience and I would thoroughly recommend going on this path with Mrs Karat.

I feel very lucky to have the care I have received from Isabella. She is a fantastic surgeon, and at the same time she is caring and kind. She always gives the time you need to ask all your questions, (however many you have!) and discuss any concerns or worries. Having a breast cancer diagnosis is scary, and post-treatment, ongoing yearly scans are both a blessing and a worry. I consider myself to have been extremely fortunate to have been referred to Mrs Karat. Before my first appointment I looked up her profile and could see her qualifications and experience were those of a first-rate surgeon, which gave me a lot of confidence. Early on during my first consultation, I realised that I couldn’t be in better hands. Her manner is professional, empathetic and down-to-earth. Everything was explained clearly in a language I could understand. There was no baffling of me with medical terms. She was extremely easy to talk to and answered all of my questIons. Subsequent follow-ups with Mrs Karat have shown she understands what worries her patient may have. For example on my first post-operative visit (when she had my test/biopsy results), almost the first thing she said was that it was “good news”. No keeping me hanging on and wondering. The only minor recommendation I would make is to ensure that the breast care nurses know whether or not you will return from surgery wearing a bra or not. In my case there was a difference in the advice I received from different nurses. It is a very minor point and in no way detracts from the first class care she is giving to me. It is also clear from the general atmosphere in the Frimley Breast Unit that she is very well respected amongst her colleagues. I would like to thank Mrs Karat for her skilful and compassionate care. I am very grateful.

I count myself very lucky that Mrs Karat is my consultant. She is clearly excellent at what she does and should any of my friends find themselves in an unfortunate situation of discovering they have breast cancer, I would strongly encourage them to see her. Aside from her talent, she is just the loveliest person and I always come away from seeing her feeling like I want to be her friend. She is just so down to earth and really puts you at ease.
