Mr Toby Colegate-Stone is a London-based consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon. He is a sub-specialist shoulder, elbow, and sports trauma surgeon. He has an active interest in: arthroscopic (keyhole) shoulder surgery; sports injuries and fractures; non-interventional treatment strategies; shoulder instability and dislocation surgery; rotator cuff shoulder repair; shoulder arthritis and replacement surgery. Mr Colegate-Stone studied medicine at Oxford University (St Edmund Hall) and completed his clinical studies at University College London. His early training was in the South East of England as well as at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney, Australia. He was then appointed onto the London Orthopaedic training rotation. Later, he undertook two recognised sub-specialist fellowship trainings. The first was at the internationally renowned Cape Shoulder Institute, University of Stellebosch, Cape Town, and the second was at King's College Hospital where is now a consultant and clinical lead. His particular academic interest is in outcomes and its pragmatic use to help patients and services. This led him to complete the Value Based Healthcare course with Harvard Business School. Subsequently, he has helped design and re-build NHS services. He remains active with research and has presented at national and international conferences, and has published more than 40 peer-reviewed papers, as well as having written chapters in international shoulder textbooks. All of Mr Colegate-Stone's experience and expertise gives him the privilege of peer-review support for internationally recognised papers. Within the King's College Hospital, he is part of the FRCS faculty and gives academic support to the department trainees.
