I recently had a virtual consultation privately with Professor Murphy to get a second opinion about my mum’s care. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to discuss a wide range of treatment options with us. He was extremely reassuring and carefully went through what is available both on the NHS and privately, making sure we understood each option. I really appreciated that he gave us the time to ask questions and answered everything clearly and honestly. His level of expertise and depth of understanding were truly excellent and something to be admired. Overall, he was incredibly kind and approachable, and the consultation left us feeling much more informed and at ease about the next steps

I have received excellent care from Professor Murphy and his team. When my NHS hospital is not willing to operate on my condition and that would significantly limit my life span. I am extremely lucky that Professor Murphy able to undertake this very complex operation and remove the cancer successfully with a clear margin. The after-care from the hospital is also excellent and I made a really good recovery. I’m always going to be grateful to him.

Professor Murphy is by far one of the kindest, most attentive medical professionals I have met in my life. After being dismissed multiple times historically by others Dr's (non-Cleveland Drs) - he took my case on and saw it through until I reached a resolution. He was honest about my situation, compassionate and made me feel safe/comfortable to express concerns about what is considered an embarrassing topic. I will forever be thankful to this incredible Dr & am so glad I found him.

I had been diagnosed with bowel cancer. In December 2021 Professor Murphy removed a tumour and resectioned my upper colon and duodenum collaborating in theatre with Mr Charles Imber at The London Clinic. His care and good humour were a great support as I had to remain in hospital for almost a month whilst my revised digestive system adjusted to the new pathway devised by them. His skill and and the trouble taken to explain matters to me and my wife were a great encouragement to recovering my weight and strength. I will see my clinical oncologist to be (hopefully) signed off within the month and will be for ever thankful for the treatment I received. 10 Aug 2022

Outstanding surgeon and communicator. Explains things clearly and responds quickly to concerns and all communications. Is willing to go the extra mile in all situations above and beyond the call.

Mr Jamie Murphy is a superb colorectal Consultant. He has been fantastic to work with to develop new clinical guidelines such as HIPEC (Heated Intraperitoneal chemotherapy) advised by NICE for peritoneal disease. Always very quick to get back to me about any clinical issues affected his patients as well as any overall prescribing practice issues within the surgery team at large such as how we manage antimicrobial prophylaxis in complex colorectal surgery; Jamie's antimicrobial stewardship and engagement with the multidisciplinary team are excellent.
