I have worked with Dr Macklin as part of a review team for clinical safety at the London Ambulance Service. In doing so he was knowledgeable, pragmatic and an advocate for the patient voice - in this case those awaiting ambulances and balancing their care needs alongside other prospective 999 patients. I would urge him to keep working with the strategic team and offering the benefit of his extensive knowledge and experience.

My experience on Dr Macklin has been seeking advice from him to ensure a team focus on patient safety. He is approachable, pragmatic and solution focused. He is always calm but able to convey a sense of urgency when the situation dictates. He thinks laterally when appropriate and engages the team in solving problems and is not afraid to get involved in areas not necessarily his remit but to ensure support to more junior clinicians and help foster a learning environment.

I have worked with David for many years within the Ambulance Sector from a management perspective as well as attending some incidents. David is a patient centred clinical leader who always put patients at the centre of decision making and ensure there best interests at all times. This is in terms of 121 patient care as well as wider tactical and strategic organisational decisions.
