Mr Chauhan has been a consultant in trauma and orthopaedic surgery since 2002 with a focus on trauma, arthroscopic and joint replacement work mainly around the lower limb. He graduated from Dundee University & lectured in Sheffield University in Anatomy and Physiology. After completing basic surgical training there, Orthopaedic training commenced in Leeds followed by a fellowship at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham. Arthroscopy and cartilage research was undertaken at Smith and Nephew’s Research Facility in York and University College London helped to validate the early imaging of cartilage and establish an arthroscopic service in Southend-on-Sea where he was appointed as a Consultant. During the time there he has developed minimally invasive approach to anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction making it possible to use a novel approach to hamstring ligament harvesting. Research interests included developing methods of treatment for cartilage damage. Mr. Chauhan is described as a caring individual with his approach to patients and their needs using great attention to detail. These are qualities that keep patients giving the highest recommendation and are also seen in the approach to individualised teaching of Foundation, Core and Speciality Trainees as well as General Practitioner colleagues.

On first meeting Dr Chauhan I felt at ease and he instantly gave me a lot of confidence to have a major operation, a full hip replacement. He explained in detail what would happen etc etc. In the operating theatre he again put me at ease with his professionalism and the operation was over and done before I knew it with no problems at all. All aftercare by himself and his staff was excellent. I would recommend anyone who is in need of surgery to seriously book Dr Chauhan as he was excellent. Highly recommend him

From the initial consultation to assess the need for surgery, through the carpal tunnel release procedure, removal of stitches, and the follow-up appointment with the consultant, the entire experience was informative, supportive, and reassuring. During the surgery itself, I felt calm, relaxed, and very safe. It was the best experience I have ever had, and I would highly recommend both this consultant and this hospital.

From my first visit in crutches he was positive, helpful kind and advised me without seeing any X-rays or scans he would be able to fix the problem and improve my quality of life. He gave me confidence that I would get a positive outcome and relive the pain I was in. My operation was a great success and everything he said he would do and the outcomes he promised he has delivered. Highly recommend

I have had the pleasure of meeting Mr Chauhan on several occasions and each has been a pleasure. He took the time to fully explain to me the procedure for my full knee replacement and has been very encouraging when we have met for follow up appointments. I am very pleased with the outcome of my surgery.
