I have just come from my HyCosy appointment with Dr Srivastava. Being a little nervous as I was unaware what to expect and how much discomfort I would feel I was made to feel very at ease. The procedure which was not as painful as expected (the most uncomfortable part is after, mirrors period cramps) was made a lot easier due to the kindness of the Dr and the nurse (I believe her name was Amina). The Dr offered lots of advice, talked me through the whole procedure and I left feeling like I had a lot more knowledge and understanding of what the procedure did and next steps to follow. Thank you for your patience and for being an amazing Dr and team. The feriltity ward in general at Homerton so far has been amazing. Friendly staff and waiting times have been super short.

All the staff here were professional and super kind, especially the doctors and nurses looking after me. During what could be an uncomfortable internal exam (to test my tubes) Dr S would ask me how I was, at those times where pain would be at its highest. And to be honest, because she was so gently and talking me through the procedure, I felt very comforted, and didn’t feel too bad at all.

When I was faced with a diagnosis of cancer aged 38, and the prospect of chemotherapy and infertility, Dr Garima Srivastava guided and supported me in making difficult decisions regarding my future fertility. She was invaluable. I will never forget her compassion, care and personal approach towards me at this challenging time and she has continued to support me over the past two years. I feel very fortunate to be one of her patients.

I had abnormal cells and had to have a loop excision on my cervix. I have been treated like a real person throughout, not just a patient. Everything was explained to me so I understood it, and the Dr Srivastava even drew me a picture at one point to make everything really clear to me. She has a brilliant bedside manner, which is a rarity in doctors, but apparently not at the Homerton Hospital, where 99% of the people I come in contact with are amazing and outstanding at their jobs.

I am a Consultant Gynaecologist, with 18 years’ experience of working in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
I qualified in 1997 and did my MD in 2002 in India. I came to UK in 2005 and completed a comprehensive speciality training programme of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and has the accreditation of the UK Specialist Training Authority. I was appointed as a consultant in 2015 at Homerton University Hospital NHS Trust after completing a fellowship in the fertility unit.

Training in both the parts of the world has given me understanding and respect for people from all the parts of the world.
.
My main areas of interest are to help couples who are finding it difficult to have a baby. I trained extensively in this area as I have discovered that I had a particular talent for this areas of medicine which needed sensitivity to understand what couples go through . I am known for my calm, sensitive and caring approach, which my patients find extremely reassuring.
I am committed to provide excellent evidence based services, to couples who are trying for a baby on all aspects of fertility. I am also a trainer for various aspects of assisted conception through British Fertility Society.

Clinical work has always been my primary interest, rather than academic research. However, I do recognise the importance of academia and am a keen facilitator to guide the fellows through numerous projects.
