Review

Dr Thomas listened to my concerns and explained to me the reason for me being here where I am. I would appreciate it if he could maybe have a meeting with his staff and myself in the next week commencing Monday 3rd April 2023. I would welcome any help that is offered to me to help me get well. I feel good within myself however the severe pain on my back problems is very stressful and hurting me since the operation I had in 2021. I would like to have my physical condition reassessed as soon as possible as this is one of the reasons for my low mood and depression.

I have been a patient of Dr Thomas since being a student at University of York. This has followed up until having my first child. He has been supportive in understanding my ADHD symptoms by listening thoroughly and making the right recommendations that can be used to manage it. I have had a lot of trial and error with different medications. There has been continuous support from Dr Thomas in finding the right dose and brand of medication. He has never once turned me away when reaching out. I am now more settled than when I first started at the Retreat treatment centre. When I first got diagnosed with inattentive ADHD , like most undiagnosed ADHD’ers, I felt like I wouldn’t be believed from being used to Doctors dismissing concerns. However, Dr Thomas showed a non-judgmental and thorough approach by not dismissing my concerns. I never once felt ‘not-believed’ or denied. Another aspect of his treatment is the freedom given by him on what brand of medication works best for my symptoms. I felt trusted to make the right choices. Particularly, by being able to express what was working and what wasn’t. This has been very important to feel trusted to make the right decisions. As sometimes ADHD’ers , do not feel that much in control of (some) aspects of their lives (personally speaking). Therefore, the freedom in deciding the medication-aspect of treatment helps feeling like you’re in the driving seat. I can now look forward to the future by dealing with aspects of my life that have been abandoned for so long. I can also make better choices via the medication route, without dooming stress and anxiety. My baby can thrive with the awareness I’ve gained through seeking treatment and also knowledge given by Dr Thomas, if maybe she, in the future has ADHD. Anyway, I can go on for ages writing about how much this treatment has helped. However my purpose in writing this, is to highlight Dr Thomas’s professionalism and dedication in making sure my ADHD symptoms are managed and treated. I am very grateful and would highly recommend this doctor. I will be posting on the Retreat review page (when I can find the time lol) by relaying the same message. Any improvement? Erm wishing he wasn’t so busy Hahahaha which will mean maybe faster response in terms of prescriptions. That would be my only negative.

Felt comfortable discussing some of longstanding emotional issues. Great support and made me more confident to start facing issues I was brushing aside.
