Dr Pearce lsitened to me and didn't judge me simply on my weight. He knew that where was something wrong and has now put me on medication for my condition. I will be eternally grateful as he listened and this medication will now help me and will chnage my life.
Actually I emailed Dr Pearce after reading his BMJ article on vitamin D insufficiency. I had just discovered that my levels were low but my GP said she didnt know enough about Vit D to be able to advise me what to do. I contacted Dr Pearce telling him about my predicament and asked him what level of D supplement I should take - he responded promptly and answered most of my questions. After following his advice for 3 months my vit D is recovering well and when i reported back Dr Pearce answered promptly and gave me some more useful information for which i'm very grateful.
On the 4 occasions that I have seen him Prof. Pearce has been attentive to my descriptions of my problem and was always patient with me. He explained things to my satisfaction and allowed me to ask questions about my condition without haste, and handled them in a friendly manner. I have confidence in him.
I have Addison's disease. Most general Endocrinologists do not have the specialist knowledge required to treat adequately patients with Addison's as most of the workload of a DGH Endocrinologist consists of looking after diabetic patients. Not only does Professor Pearce have a specialist interest and expertise but he is very approachable, listens and is interested in what is said and tries to find solutions to any problems. He also (which is very unusual these days) examines his patients which is very reassuring!
I feel I could ring him anytime for advice which gives one a lot of confidence.

All ways he makes himself accessible which provides continuity of care.
