Scott was amazingly personable, preparing me for my knee replacement surgery this week (4/3/24). It was he who liaised with me, apologising for me being last on the list (someone has to be!) and arranging for me to have another pre-op drink because of the inevitable delay, which I’m sure is not strictly his responsibility. When I did arrive at the theatre he gave a cheery greeting, repeated his (appropriate downlevel) explanations to me and was generally reassuring. All his cheery assurances for me were delivered against a backdrop of training someone else, gently correcting where necessary, I imagine.
Altogether my favourite person in the whole surgical experience- which is strange because I hadn’t really thought of the anaesthetist as being a leading light in the bedside manner stakes. Many thanks, Scott (and team). And congratulations on your half century this year - whenever it is.
Scott was the Anaesthetist for my Inguinal Hernia operation on 20/01/24. His bedside manner was genuinely friendly, with excellent explanation of the procedures which I found very informative.
He also has a great sense of humour as he listened attentively to what I had to say. In particular my obsession with my daily step count (I had an unbroken run of over 5 years at minimum of 12k steps / day) which I was hoping I would be able to maintain after the surgery.
When I met him again in the operating theatre his sense of humour helped me remain calm.
I met Mr Bird at my resent procedure, having some complications I knew there were risks to me having the surgery.
From the moment I met my Bird his manner and patient care were excellent, where others had been very negative.
On the day I was very nervous but Mr Bird put me at ease and I felt In very safe hands,
His bedside manner was great and he explained who fantastic my Surgeon was and what a wonderful team I had looking after me. I immediately felt at ease and so much better, please send my thanks to him as his manner made such a difference to my experience
