Scott was amazingly personable, preparing me for my knee replacement surgery this week (4/3/24). It was he who liaised with me, apologising for me being last on the list (someone has to be!) and arranging for me to have another pre-op drink because of the inevitable delay, which I’m sure is not strictly his responsibility. When I did arrive at the theatre he gave a cheery greeting, repeated his (appropriate downlevel) explanations to me and was generally reassuring. All his cheery assurances for me were delivered against a backdrop of training someone else, gently correcting where necessary, I imagine. Altogether my favourite person in the whole surgical experience- which is strange because I hadn’t really thought of the anaesthetist as being a leading light in the bedside manner stakes. Many thanks, Scott (and team). And congratulations on your half century this year - whenever it is.
