I first met Dr Hussain in the Summer of 2017 where he removed a basal cell carcinoma from my eyebrow. I was unaware of the existence of this type of cancer and like many patients before me I was very anxious and apprehensive. Dr Hussain and his dedicated, professional and reassuring team at Chapel Allerton removed the carcinoma under Mohs surgery. Their care and expertise ensured that my surgery went according to plan, the carcinoma was removed and the healing process was very straightforward. Throughout I was so very appreciative of the care, knowledge and skill of Dr Hussain and his team. Fast forward to November 2018 and a second basal cell carcinoma developed on the side of my nose. I was naturally concerned and wanted to have it removed as soon as possible. The carcinoma was removed but unfortunately the healing process this time was not straightforward. I developed an infection and after a few weeks it became clear that the wound was not going to heal. Dr Hussain therefore had to re-operate to cut back to new healthy skin and rejoin the wound. To say I was upset was an understatement. However Dr Hussain recognising my anxiety operated within 3 days of establishing that the wound was not going to heal and gave me the most wonderful care and support in the weeks afterwards. I asked to see him numerous times for him to check that he was happy that the wound would heal and with such patience he reassured me every time. Not once did he get frustrated or feel I was wasting his time. This meant so much to me and I will always be very appreciative. I would highly recommend Dr Hussain

After an initially shocking diagnosis of cancer (BCC) by another dermatologist, I was referred through to Dr Hussain who offered a calm, straight-forward and pragmatic road-map to recovery. This was exactly what I needed in terms of reassurance and the process from start to finish, via Mohs surgery (which was completed efficiently, effectively and without drama), was successful and exactly followed the plan Dr Hussain had explained to me. The follow-up since surgery has been excellent, and I would certainly recommend consulting Dr Hussain for any dermatological issues.

I am extremely grateful to Dr Hussain and his team for what they have done for me and the way they did it. Like many others who have left comments on this website I had a BCC on my face. Unfortunately I also have an extreme aversion to the whole concept of surgery (anywhere on my body, let alone my face) and all it entails (sharp implements, anaesthesia, loss of control etc). Abject terror is probably an appropriate description of what I felt having being told what needed to happen, such that I was considering different options including no surgery at all. After meeting Dr Hussain I decided to have Mohs surgery under local anaesthetic with a bit of extra chemical help. I have not regretted that decision for even a moment. I credit Dr Hussain’s manner, confidence and professional approach with enabling me to make that decision. It is true that my surgery day will not feature on the list of the 10 best days of my life but it passed with far less distress than I ever dreamt possible, courtesy of Dr Hussain and his team. I cannot thank them enough for that. It is now a month since the procedure. I have received first rate follow up care and, such was the skill of his reconstructive surgery I have every reason to believe that in the near future most people I meet will struggle to see much evidence of my having had the procedure. Should I ever need to have similar treatment in the future I will have no hesitation in asking to see Dr Hussain again.

I have been a patient of Dr Hussain for a couple of skin related issues with the most recent being the removal of a low form of skin cancer known as a squamous cell carcinoma. Unfortunately a few weeks later I then developed something very similar and made the very next appointment to see Dr Hussain, what he saw baffled him but he knew it had to be removed. After looking at his very busy schedule he managed to see me the very next day (before his clinic actually started) and after 40 mins in threatre it was gone. In all my appointments I've found Dr Hussain to very understanding of my worries and concerns and he's always made me feel relaxed and confident that I'm in safe hands. He also took care to ensure that my scars were extremely neat given that he'd removed part of a recent personal tattoo I'd gotten.

Having listened to and mulled over the possible scenarios which might unfold during the process of removing a basal cell carcinoma from the crease of my nostril, I arrived at the hospital steady and calm but inwardly filled with apprehension. By early afternoon, with the most enormous dressing dominating my face, I was cancer free and overwhelmingly grateful for the sense of peace and reassurance which had pervaded my day. There were small moments of humour and an easy , confident yet relaxed atmosphere throughout in the treatment room .I am forever grateful to have been referred to Dr Walyat Hussain, and equally grateful for the two wonderful nurses and the staff, unseen by me, who worked diligently in the laboratory, on samples sent for analysis.I am now an avid ambassador for MOHs surgery and my splendid outcome.
