My experiences with Dr Richard Mellor have been far more than I could have imagined or expected when I set out to determine whether or not I had ADHD. Dr Mellor conducted my ADHD assessment and at the end of the consultation provided me with an immediate provisional diagnosis. He made it very clear that his diagnosis would be confirmed either way once treatment for it was initiated. During that assessment, I felt completely reassured that Dr Mellor had read all of the information I had provided beforehand relating to my symptoms, and it was very clear that he listened to what I was saying throughout the consultation. Although I felt anxious prior to the consultation, his warm and friendly manner from the outset immediately put me at ease and I had no hesitations in talking about my thoughts, behaviours and concerns, some of which I considered to be very personal. At no time during the consultation did I feel I was being judged. I felt that Dr Mellor conducted himself in a very professional manner and was very knowledgable about ADHD. But just as important I could tell that he showed genuine concern and compassion for me and wanted to help. Dr Mellor made all the necessary arrangements for me to begin my treatment. This ran very smoothly and the treatment worked extremely effectively in dealing with my symptoms, which confirmed that his diagnosis was indeed correct. When I had reached a stable dose on my treatment, Dr Mellor conducted a second review to discuss the outcome and decide on a way forward. Once again, I found him to be warm, friendly and courteous. He again showed genuine compassion for my well-being and was immensely positive about the success I had achieved during treatment. He confirmed that he would progress the continuation of my care onto my local GP but would remain available at anytime for advice and assistance should I need it. And he would also be available and willing to conduct my annual reviews which, without doubt, I would be more than happy to do. At no time during my experiences with Dr Mellor did I feel pressured, ignored or devalued. And at no time did I feel that I was being restricted by a 'doctor's ego' (which I have experienced with some other doctors in the past). I was treated like a human-being and treated with respect for my personal concerns and the situation I was in. I cannot put into words just how thankful I am for Dr Mellor's work and efforts, his knowledge, his professionalism and his conduct throughout my assessment and treatment. For what has been a very challenging time for me, I don't believe I could have received better care than I had from Dr Mellor. I have been so impressed with him that I arranged for a family member to receive an assessment from him too. And I have also passed on his details to an acquaintance who I'm certain will benefit from his services. My experience with Dr Mellor, his diagnosis and treatment have been life-changing. I now have a very positive outlook as a result and I put so much of this down to Dr Mellor's help. It's amazing what can be achieved when you have the right people on your team!

I was very nervous to speak to someone and picked Dr Mellor has his reviews said he was friendly. He did a great job of making me feel more relaxed. He is kind, easy to talk to and understanding. I was concerned that the ADHD wouldn't be seen as I don't fit the typical stereotype. But he is very knowledgeable of ADHD so that wasn't the case. I regret putting off getting a diagnosis for so long as starting medication has been life changing. Things aren't perfect but I am so much more functional then I used to me. Life on medication has become my new normal, and it's not until I miss doses that I realise just how much I need it and don't quite know how I managed with out it - I guess I didn't. I can't thank Dr Mellor enough and highly recommend him if you are looking for someone to pick.

Dr Richard was very clear and took time to explain and make sure I understood at each stage what was going to happen throughout the assessment. He asked lots of questions but gave me time to find and qualify my answers. He handled the consultation with sensitivity and consideration of my situation. I felt understood and treated with respect. I would feel perfectly comfortable to go to him with any questions or concerns I might have. He demonstrated professionalism and integrity.

My adult ADHD assessment seemed thorough and reasonable balance of structured closed questions and more open ones. I felt listened to and was able to communicate what I saw as being the most pertinent things that had encouraged me to request the consultation. Dr Richard was friendly and approachable throughout.

I am extremely grateful for Dr Mellor's care and advice. At 33, I felt I was a little bit "too late" to be discussing ADHD, but I'm so glad I did. Dr Mellor's assessment was thorough and in itself showed me the areas of my life that had been unnecessarily difficult. He listened without judgement, talked me through every step of the assessment and titration process, and ultimately, the diagnosis has changed my life. I felt in good hands under Dr Mellor's guidance, and could see that he was also taking other areas of my mental health (anxiety and CFS) into consideration with his recommendations. He was patient, professional, and was also a pleasure to speak to. Highly recommend!
