I worked with Dr Elphinstone for almost 20 years before she retired and found her to be a very professional, competent and popular GP.
Dr Elphinstone has a kind, calm and caring manner. She was and still is, highly respected by her peers and colleagues.
Her patients were were invariably complimentary about her and pleased with the attention and treatment they received. She was an incredibly popular doctor, much missed by patients and the staff at the practice.
I saw this doctor after 3 months of visiting GPs and being given a variety of medication without any testing. I had a 3 month long, progressive burning pain in my throat and tongue, head pains, somewhat enlarged tonsils among other symptoms and heath complications. Instead of addressing my actual symptoms this doctor pursued a line of questioning that implied my symptoms were a result of stress and depression. She decided she didn't see anything and at the end of the appointment asked me what I wanted her to do.
Shortly after I went to emergency with excruciating pain and then abroad to get immediate healthcare - it turned out I had a severe bacterial infection.
It is extremely disappointing to go to a doctor, who, after years of medical school, you expect to have the knowledge or at least sympathy and then them asking you what you want them to do. I am not a healthcare professional - I came to this GP for help and advice and not to self-diagnose myself.
