I had surgery with Mr Pedro Castanho to remove two head hematomas. I was really pleased with standard of care received mainly due to the fact that the consultant took the time to explain my treatment plan extremely well. The results of my MRI and CT scans were showed to me and discussed in the detail and I was kept informed along the way. Being kept informed about the treatment was crucial to me.

Dr Pedro Oliveira Castanho is exceptional. His warm, friendly, approachable and highly professional persona put me instantly at ease. I was extremely impressed by his choice of treatment and his explanation as to why he chose the procedure I had, lumbar decompression which allows far more movement than that of spinal fusion. He answered all my questions, put my mind at ease and I felt extremely confident that his surgical skills would be of the highest standard and they were. He was always very clear regarding possible outcomes and side effects of the procedure and ensuring that I understood that I may need further surgery in the future. I would strongly urge that you prepare any questions you have in advance of surgery, I didn't think to ask why my back was the way it was until my 6 week check up by which time I had not fully understood what I could and couldn't do and certainly hadn't realised that bones thicken in response to self abuse i.e lifting heavy items, not bending from the knees, lifting pots in the garden etc. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this lovely Doctor, he really does care, he is highly skilled and you could not put yourself in more capable hands, ten out of ten no question!

Lovely, approachable manner, easy to converse with. My surgery was above and beyond my expectations and I feel so good in just 24hrs! Really great experience, superb team, superb hospital.
