I have been under the care of Dr. Heafields since June 2015. He diagnosed me with a potentially life threatening condition, as soon as I walked into his surgery, just by looking at me, when I presented at an out patient referral. This was especially reassuring, when other health professionals had failed to arrive at a diagnosis. Treating me (Incorrectly) for ‘stress’ instead. Whilst I knew that I was ‘stressed’ due to my challenging role at work. I thought my symptoms were extreme. I could not understand why I could not chew my food, why I choked on it. Why I could not stand, why my face drooped and why I could not keep my eyes open, even though rested. I also suffered from extreme ‘panic attacks’ just from an unexpected noise or event. I have always found Dr. Heafields to listen and discuss with me the best options for my on going care. He has always seemed to adopt an open minded approach and when told of further issues regarding ‘gait and unsteadiness’ he arranged further tests. This enabled him to diagnose a further condition explained my physical and psychological symptoms. I have been very encouraged with our relationship of PERSON & DOCTOR. I am Currently on a regime of treatment which includes transfusions of a blood based product every 12 weeks, which enables me to live the best I can. Although I have not been able to do all the things I did before, I am able to make the best I can of each day. If you go to see Dr. Heafields, don’t expect a ‘there, there’ attitude to your care, or someone who is going to offer you platitudes. Present the facts, ask your questions and challenge anything your not happy with.

I attended the clinic of Mr Heafield on 12th April 2019 at the Queen Elizabeth hospital with my autistic daughter. On entering we had no real welcome or hello. The doctor seemed confused as to why we were there and didn't seem to care anyway. My daughter received no proper examination and when she tried to ask questions was rebuked. He was extremely rude and obnoxious and my daughter ended up in tears with no clear pathway to follow. When we tried to question him about his behaviour he tried to deny any wrong doing. However if you read other reviews most people agree with us. This man could not be trusted and he has zero empathy towards his patients.

Took my daughter for her first appointment with Dr Heafield today. I have never encountered a healthcare professional with such a complete lack of empathy or bedside manner. Within minutes he had reduced my daughter to tears with his brusque manner, he didn't appear to listen to what either of us had to say and followed his own misinformed opinion. We left the consulting room feeling belittled and treated like idiots. My tearful daughter was ushered unto a side room by a sympathetic nurse to be calmed down before leaving the building. Horrendous experience, will certainly not be repeating it in future, there must be other neurologists in Worcestershire.

Following a referral from my GP I had an appointment with Dr Heafield at Kidderminster hospital. He examined me and sent me for a scan within two weeks I had a further appointment where he diagnosed me with Parkinson's disease and started me on treatment. The medication, although not a cure, is helping with some of the symptoms. I found Dr Heafield to be succinct, prompt, polite and I feel comfortable with him overseeing my care.

My husband was referred by a psychiatrist to find if there were physical reasons as well as mental for his sudden deterioration - a feeling I certainly had. We attended his clinic and were seen very promptly. My impression was that Dr Heafield knew almost immediately what the diagnosis was. He was able to show me scans with simple explanations where the problem was. There was a hint of humour when my husband turned right instead of left when assessing his gait. He gave me simple directions as to what aids I might need as the disease progressed. He told me who he was referring us to and why it was important to have a hospice referral for the future. Perhaps I was glad to have a diagnosis however challenging it was. but I certainly don't recognise the person described in other reviews. I have run an OutPatient department and worked with numerous consultants and Dr Heafield appeared to me to be clear, kind, empathic and professional.
