Dr Mahshid Nickkho-Amiry

Dr Nickkho-Amiry qualified from University of Manchester in 2005 and completed her specialist training in the North West of England. Dr Nickkho-Amiry was awarded a PhD from the University of Manchester for her research into Endometrial Cancer. She has published papers and on menstrual disorders, endometrial polyps, fertility and endometrial cancer as well as a book chapter regarding disorders of female reproductive endocrinology. She leads the Specialist Fertility Clinic at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and manages patients with fertility concerns, optimisation of fertility and fertility assessment. She also manages patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome, ovulation disorders, menstrual irregularities, and premature ovarian insufficiency. Dr Nickkho-Amiry is the Lead Hysteroscopist at her institution and undertakes outpatient procedure clinics. She undertakes diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy in the outpatient setting for a range of conditions including menstrual irregularities, insertion/removal of intrauterine devices, removal of polyps and assessment of the womb cavity for fertility. She leads the One-stop Postmenopausal Bleeding Clinic. Patients with unscheduled bleeding on hormone replacement therapy or abnormal bleeding attend a one-stop clinic for history, examination, transvaginal ultrasound and if needed, hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy. She also undertakes menopause consultations regarding symptoms, initiating or changing HRT allowing her to provide a comprehensive service for problems associated with menopause. Dr Nickkho-Amiry is the lead for Gynaecology Outpatients in her trust and is involved in improving services and clinical effectiveness. She is also the lead for Gynaecology Governance working towards improving patient safety. Dr Nickkho-Amiry is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester and is the Associate Undergraduate Tutor for Year 4 medical students for Women’s Health at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. She has a keen interest in education and is an educational and clinical supervisor to speciality trainees.
