I have been a Consultant Cardiologist at West Suffolk Hospital since April 2021. I was previously a Consultant Cardiologist at the James Paget University Hospital in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, UK from 2011-2021, where I was also Honorary Senior Lecturer at Norwich Medical School (UEA), and Lead consultant for cardiac prevention/rehabilitation, East of England 2014 - 2020 I trained as a doctor at University College London Medical School, qualifying in 1997 after winning the First Year prize in Physiology, the Shanks scholarship after my Second year exams and a Merit at Finals. My first doctor post was the Professorial firm in Clinical Pharmacology and Cardiology at University College Hospital and Middlesex Hospitals. After further junior doctor (senior house officer) jobs at the Royal Free, Kings College and Royal Brompton Hospitals, I became a Specialist Registrar on the training scheme in Cardiology based at Cambridge University Teaching Hospitals in 2002. I completed an MSc in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2005 and read for my PhD in the department of Epidemiology and Public Health at University College London from 2005 to 2008, as a British Heart Foundation Clinical PhD Research Fellow. I then became an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Cardiology at UCL in 2009, with clinical duties at UCL Hospitals, and as part of this seconded as a research fellow to the George Institute for Global Health in Sydney in 2010 after winning the Berkeley Fellowship. I have also been - Deputy Chair of the UK charity the South Asian Health Foundation - Co-founder of Non-Communicable Disease unit, Tutor and Module leader (2010 – 2015) at the on-line learning People's Open Access Education Initiative - Lecturer for multiple BMJ Masterclasses - Teacher and International Advisor, Royal College of Physicians (UK) - Organised and delivered single-handedly cardiology course, Lagos University Hospital, Nigeria - Lecturer on MSc Determinants of Health, City University - Lecturer on MSc Preventive Cardiology, Imperial College London - Lecturer on Norwich Medical School Module 4 I have written 32 academic research papers, 16 editorials, 5 clinical reviews, 4 book chapters, 6 research letters, 2 case studies
