After very poor service from Torbay Hospital I decided to pursue a private opinion with this Consultant. What a warm, and friendly doctor. He did a thorough examination and asked a lot of questions, and explained as he went what was happening. He then explained where the problems were and gave his recommendations. I couldn't recommend him enough, and will return to see him in the future.

Changed my appointment without checking with me so I missed it and was berated by the receptionist and secretary. I was already apprehensive after reading these reviews and will not be rearranging the appointment. Extremely disappointing service for private practice.

I paid £280 for a 30 minute private appointment and was out the door after about 13 minutes. The doctor appeared to have interest whatsoever in any aspect of the consultation and he spent most of this time asking admin type questions. He seemed to imply that I was not telling the truth about my alcohol consumption (which is very low). There were next to no questions relating to the reason why I was there or my symptoms or my family history. Or even my recent MRI results. My 'physical examination' was ridiculous. I was asked to walk about 3 steps and touch his finger and that was about it. I say walk, it was more a kind of run because throughout the whole time I was there the Doctor was going at such a crazy pace it was like some kind of peculiar game. The physical element was over in less than a minute. I have never had an appointment on the NHS where a Doctor seems, literally, as though they are so rushed they are trying to get a 30 min appointment done in 5. There was a rushed 'explanation' of the need for some further tests and then I was all but bundled out the door. The appointment was followed by a strange letter to my GP that confused them because Dr Ramtahal was clearly unaware of the referral pathways for patients as per the guidance. I was none the wiser, have not had the tests, am still bristling with being treated like that and am £280 less well-off. To say I expected a little more would be an understatement.

my 90 year old mother went to see this doctor, and paid $250.00 for the consultation, and the only thing he asked her was did she have an insurance, as as she said no, he didn't bother to do any exams, or even touch her, she had a terrible pain in between the shoulder blades and her GP said it could be neurological problem, that's why she went to see Dr. Ramtahal, my mother had to follow up with her GP to see whether he had received the report from Dr Ramtahal. and her GP after 2 months had to chase after him for the report, and in the report all it said was he recommended an injection, without mentioning the name of the injection or what kind of injection, this is a damn disgrace treating patients like this, its only all about money nowadays, no humanity anymore, its a damn shame !!!!!!

I am 49 years of age and around 6 months ago started suffering an increase of migraines so after a CT scan which showed cause for concern and an MRI which showed even more concern I had a private consultation with Dr Ramtahal. I had weeks of worry with my diagnosis however Dr Ramtahal quickly put me at ease answering my questions expertly. He carried out a thorough examination and gave me some great advice, put me on a private prescription and gave me a booklet to understand my condition. I can heartily recommend this Consultant. I will certainly be returning in the future for follow up. Thanks!
