Today, 14th July, Dr Hannah King was my anaesthetist for a septoplasty and sinuplasty operation by Mr Michael O’Connell. The care at Hurstwood Park Day Care Centre was exceptional. In particular, Dr Hannah King was exceptional and reassuring as I had severe white coat syndrome with blood pressure over 200/100. She was very reassuring and caring and managed to get my blood pressure to a more acceptable level prior to surgery and agreed to operate. Prior to surgery, through the pre-assessment process she was very communicative with my white coat blood pressure issues and worries. She listened to my concerns and was very empathetic with the situation. The ENT surgery went very well under the experienced Mr Michael O’Connell who is an exceptional surgeon, the best ENT surgeon in Sussex. So caring, listens to patients and treats his patients with utmost care and always goes beyond the call of duty. Post surgery, I had severe bleeding complications. I had additional drugs to stem the bleeding and unfortunately it created multiple potentially fatal blood clots at the back of my throat which was frightening. Dr Hannah King acted calmly in suctioning the blood clots out of my throat, which was a really horrible process. She sought reassurance from Mr Michael O’Connell to ensure the best outcome possible. Thankfully this was successful and I was discharged from Hurstwood Park day surgery unit at 17:00 on 14/07/21. The nursing team, particularly Lita and the post operative recovery team were first class and so caring and compassionate. I am so grateful for the care that I received today from Dr Hannah King, Mr Michael O’Connel and the nursing team at Hurstwood Park Day Care Centre. This centre is truly exceptional for ENT care and I would thoroughly recommend any surgery at this centre. Hopefully I will now be on the long road to recovery and will be able to breathe once again, which will be a real gift of life. Dr James M Watts - 14/07/21
