Having been in pain for 4 years after my knee replacement I went to see Dr Camilleri and he was absolutely fantastic. He listened to all the issues I had and sent me for tests to rule out other possible causes and then advised me what options I had. After starting on nerve blocks I felt like a different person - I hadn’t realised how badly the chronic pain had affected me for all those years. As the nerve blocks are a temporary solution I am now awaiting the next course of action to burn the nerves and can’t wait. My dealings so far have been very pleasant and Mr Camilleri is a very personable consultant to deal with, honestly just wanting the best outcome along the way and keeps you fully informed.

I came to Dr Camilleri as a last resort having tried many many things to help with my back pain which I suffered with for a long time! From the first appointment I felt Dr C understood my issues was empathetic and had a bit of hope he could actually help me. I am pleased to say that he DID help me A LOT add to the fact he's just a great guy to talk too and he and his team are very professional but also humorous I could not recommend him more highly! Thank you again Dr Camilleri!

Ive had a few appointments with Dr Camilleri, I consider him to be one of the best Consultants I’ve seen over the years. I have ongoing problems and today when I went to see Dr Camilleri I was very nervous and some what anxious but by the time the appointment was finished, I was at ease and a clear path was made so I hadn’t even a question to ask. Dr Camilleri is professional who is empathetic as well as kind. My only constructive criticism is maybe the hospital should take on more doctors like Dr Camilleri.

I have seen Dr Camilleri several times over the years privately and on the NHS and I have always found him to be very knowledgeable, caring and always takes the time to listen and explain. What I would call a good bedside manner. I have in the past recommended him to family and friends and would not hesitate to recommend him again.

I have been seeing Dr Camilleri for nearly 4 years. He has been a great listener, and an excellent practitioner, who has helped with my chronic pain symptoms. He has an outstanding rapport, and explains exactly what the procedures are that he will perform, over and above the clinical diagnosis. The results of these procedures have been highly successful in reducing my pain. I cannot praise him highly enough.

Expertise:

Chronic pain, in particular back pain, is an extremely problematic and complicated area of Medicine, affecting large numbers of the population.
Navigating the research and recommendations often leaves patients (and even many doctors) very uncertain as to the correct course of action to take or recommend.
Each patient I see is carefully assessed with time given to allow a full understanding of that patient's symptoms.
Relevant investigations, such as MRIs, may form a part of the initial assessment and will be explained in a manner that allows each patient to understand the cause of their pain and all available treatment options.
In order to offer a full range of treatment options I work in close collaboration with other Specialist Consultants such as Spine Surgeons; Neurosurgeons, Neurologists, Rheumatologists, Orthopaedic Surgeons and Physiotherapists.

As well as providing a multifaceted approach to various pain conditions, I offer expertise in the latest ablative (destruction) techniques of nerve fibres that carry the sensation of pain, to reduce the burden of pain arising from the Spine (low back & neck) and knees. These procedures are minimally invasive and are performed as a day case procedure. Other procedures that I provide include:

- Spinal injections
- Facet Joint injections to the neck and lumbar spine
- Medial Branch injections
- Radiofrequency Denervation (also called radiofrequency ablation, radiofrequency neurotomy or facet rhizolysis) to the back and neck.
- Sacro-iliac joint injection and denervation
- Knee (genicular nerve) denervation
- Epidural injections for sciatica
- Targeted nerve root injections for sciatica
- Muscle steroid/cortisone injections
- Botox injections for persistent muscle pain
