Response from Dr Danny Allen

Thank you so much for these kind words. The environment we shared was very harsh and I am so pleased that I managed to do some good. I wish you all the best.

I was referred to Dr Allen by my GP seven years ago. Since that time, Dr Allen has helped me enormously. Meeting him on my first visit was a very easy and reassuring experience, I found him to be easy to talk to and non-judgemental. He listened carefully before making any conclusions or giving advice on my health matters which he took very seriously indeed, I found this aspect of his approach very reassuring. He has true expertise; with his ability to subtly guide he empowered and inspired me to take control of what turned out to be a complex and quite unique mental illness that had developed suddenly in a stressful work situation. I had previously, for a short time been under the care of another psychiatrist whom I felt did not believe my symptoms or try to understand them and who was trying to force me to take a route I knew was wrong for me. From my first meeting with Dr Allen, I knew that not only did Dr Allen believe my symptoms but more importantly that he believed in me. Through Dr Allen's insightful expertise and gently suggestive approach I came to understand my illness. Throughout my treatment Dr Allen encouraged me to take a fully active part in decisions relating to medication and therapy. At a time when you cannot always trust yourself or those closest to you, I have no doubt that his approach to the treatment of my illness built me back up. With Dr Allen's help I discovered my own simple, practical coping strategy. I'm delighted to say that for the last several years I've led an active and challenged life again including public speaking, without medication or therapy. I've never felt happier. I'm now more aware then ever of how precious and fragile our mental health is. I feel truly blessed to have been under the care of Dr Allen at such a critical time in my life.

I have been suffering with undiagnosed attention deficit disorder (ADD) for most of my life (I am now 33 years old). I failed at school, college and personal things such as relationships and being organised to run a home efficiently. It was not until I researched ADD and booked my first appointment with Dr Allen that I finally had answers to why I struggled with these normal thing's that I had watched other people managing to do. Dr Danny really made me feel comfortable and actually listened to me and my experiences and concerns. I was diagnosed with ADD and Dr Allen helped me to find the best medication to manage my ADD symptoms, effectively. The first medication that he prescribed for me, unfortunately did not last for more than a couple of hours. Dr Allen took the time to research into this for me and informed me that because of me having different anatomy to other people (I have a gastric bypass which meant that I absorb things much quicker than than the average person). Therefore, he prescribed me a much slower release tablet and this has really helped me. I am very pleased to say that since Dr Allen diagnosed me with ADD and prescribed me medication that I have managed to obtain a degree in radiography. I would like to thank Dr Allen and his staff for all of their help and support whether it be the Skype appointments, email/letter correspondence or our sit-down appointments. I have always felt cared about and listened to and really believe that if I would have not booked to see Dr Allen then I would not have managed my inattentiveness and ADD and would not have been successful in getting my degree. I would recommend anyone who is looking for a compassionate and caring Dr who really cares, to go and book an appointment with Dr Allen - as I am so glad that I did :-)
