I had two hammer toes, most probably inherited alongside two non painful bunions. One of the hammer toes on my larger foot was becoming very sore with an open wound and this seriously affected my walking and hence fitness level. I had been to see another podiatrist a year before who recommended some custom made insoles in order to avoid surgery but quite honestly, the ' horse had bolted' by then. I went to see Sally on recommendation and she was completely straight forward and said the toe was not going to improve and could indeed get a lot worse by crossing over the next toe. She did the op six weeks ago and I really wish I had seen her a couple of years ago. She clearly outlined the operation and subsequent recovery so I knew what to expect and I am really happy with the result. Still a little swollen and a bit sore but getting better every day. Sally is very pragmatic but kind and approachable. She stresses that she is on the end of the phone for advice and most importantly, she is very competent and professional. I had great care at the BMI Shelburne hospital.

I was referred to Mrs Sally Feeney in March 2018 due to progressively worsening bunions on both feet and added complications of hammer and dislocated toes. Overall these led to significantly painful feet and difficulty getting comfortable shoes, not to mention frequent Podiatrist visits for corn removal from the dislocated toe and callous removal due to the varying foot issues. I never sought surgery to be ‘able to wear nice shoes’ but simply to be able to walk and sleep without painful feet! Although the bunion on my right foot was worse, my left caused more immediate issues with the dislocated toe and Mrs Feeney recommended bunion surgery and toe straightening. The operation was done as a day patient in June 2018 and I had recovered sufficiently to elect to have a bigger ‘mid foot fusion’ surgery plus toe straightening on my right foot in December 2018. I received great care and support from all staff at the Shelburne and Sally Feeney provided excellent pre and post op advice and support. While the pain from the surgery is relatively short term, the post op recovery period, especially from the second surgery is considerably longer – as fully advised by Mrs Feeney. The second op required me to be on crutches for 6 weeks and will take upto 12 months for full recovery, however 4 months or so on and having had regular physiotherapy - following both surgeries - I can walk comfortably in trainers and look forward to being able to return to more regular footwear. The outcome is looking very positive and I am happy to recommend Mrs Sally Feeney

I have recently had bunion deformities corrected on both feet. One done October 2018 and the other January 2019. I am an active person who enjoys walking and running and I was finding these activities becoming troublesome because of my bunions which were very deformed. Following my operations as a day patient I felt I recovered very well. The pain I experienced was short lived and managed very well with the prescribed analgesia. Physiotherapy commenced shortly after the operations and this helped greatly with rehabilitation. I am delighted with the outcome and would not hesitate to recommend Mrs Sally Feeney.
