A pulled hamstring playing rugby and it was time to go and see Richard again. It was painful and I expected it would lay me low for quite some time or at least keep me off the rugby field as even walking was painful. As ever, Richard got to work quickly with a mixture of hands on work and remedial exercises and it wasn't too long until I could walk without pain though for a while longer running remained out of the question. Three months on and I'm better though on Richard's advice I will leave rugby to one side for the rest of the season.

I saw a consultant with what I and my GP thought was a major knee problem, I was assured it was not so serious and he recommended seeing Richard at Physio & More to get back the correct alignment in my leg and to strengthen it. I was dubious that this could be done but having examined me Richard assured me it could and would take about three months to achieve. During that time Richard was patient, thorough and very good at explaining things and demonstrating exactly what I needed to do during sessions and between them. He is very clearly an expert in his field. Now I've recovered, pain is in the past! I'm delighted, it wasn't easy at times but Richard gave me confidence that all would be alright in the end and indeed it is.

Richard has been great in helping me get back to normal after some major shoulder surgery. He's clear in his explanations and thorough in his approach. Recovery has been better than I imagined.

Very knowledgeable, explains things well and make sure you understand what he is going to do and what you need to do between sessions. Recovery was steady and now I think I'm better than I was before I was injured - that has to be good!

I've been seeing Richard with a problem with my knees, they are getting old and worn out. He's helped me develop strength in my legs and with some work made me more flexible so there's life in the old dog yet. These young physios these days certainly know their stuff.

Profile

Senior Physiotherapist

During my career I have enjoyed helping people from all walks of life with effective pain relief and achieving their rehabilitation goals. I started work at one of the country’s leading teaching hospitals, Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where I developed a sound medical background in healthcare, and gained experience in treating various conditions and injuries. During this time I also worked in private practice and spent 3 years working part-time at Fulham FC Academy where I was responsible for the rehabilitation of injuries of players aged 9-16 and their pitch-side medical care.I moved to a Harley Street clinic where I helped people from the general public and professional west-end performers. Pilates was an integral and popular part of rehabilitation. In 2011 I completed my MSc studies at King’s College London in Advanced Neuro-muscuoloskeletal Physiotherapy where I specialised in musculoskeletal pain and pathology, and the manual / physical therapy aspects towards treating these problems.Currently I work full time at Brentford FC where I am responsible for the physiotherapy and rehabilitation of the U9-U21 age groups as well as supporting the 1st team medical staff. This has involved working with some of the countries leading physicians and consultants where complex problems or operative procedures are concerned. On a daily basis I work with back pain, nerve related pain and rehabilitation of mainly lower limb injuries, as well as groin, knee and ankle pains and post-operative rehabilitation.I am delighted to have joined the team at Physio & More and I look forward to helping you reach your goals, starting with a warm smile and open ears. No one I see receives a recipe or the same treatment. Depending on your needs and desires, I use a combination of hands on therapy including acupuncture and soft tissue massage/release with exercise therapy including Pilates and strength and conditioning. Understanding your injury can be essential to making it better, so I will always go the extra mile to give you as much information as possible so that you don’t leave with unanswered questions. You can be assured that we will get to the root of the problem quickly, and formulate a tailor made plan together to move forwards.
