A very efficient and considerate individual. Ms Carol Shue was my nurse prescriber who performed the titration to help me find the right medication for my ADHD. My experience of Carol Shue as my nurse prescriber was nothing short of amazing. She continually made me feel respected and valued as a patient and considered everything that I told her to ensure the best outcome for me. The value that Carol placed on my input made the process feel like a collaboration between her and I, as though we were working together to find the right solution. She even considered how cost effective the treatment would be for me and changed the prescribed dosages to make the medication last longer and save me money. Every week I reported to Carol with new information about the treatment and how the titration process was going, sometimes I added some extra information and she responded very quickly every time, never taking longer than 12 hours. Her response was always useful and effective and would always settle any concerns that I had. With her assistance and support the titration process was over in a month and I firmly believe that the best solution has been found. Ms Carol Shue has proved herself to be a caring and considerate individual, who is dedicated to providing the best care for her patients and achieving the best outcome for them.

Carol has been fantastic; she's been professional, efficient, and sensible, she has set out my options clearly and succinctly, and she has guided me through the titration process expertly. Couldn't recommend her more highly.

Carol was my titration nurse when newly diagnosed with combined ADHD and trying medication for the first time. She was friendly, knowledgeable, extremely quick to respond to messages through Psychiatry UK’s message portal and friendly on the phone. She was pragmatic about adjusting dosage, had useful suggestions and recommendations around my elevated blood pressure and was really easy to deal with.

Qualifications:

  • Nurse Independent/Supplementary Prescriber

Profile

I am a registered nurse prescriber. I started my journey as a mental health nurse by completing the recognised nursing course in the UK. Since qualifying as a nurse in 2011, I have worked in acute inpatient and community settings. I have helped pioneered the start of an NHS Adult ADHD service in 2011 and developed the service together with a Consultant Psychiatrist and provided a nurse led service for adults. Since 2011, I have participated in training conferences to help train other clinicians who were planning to start an adult ADHD service in their locality or those who have just started working in an adult ADHD service. I have given talks about the nurse led Adult ADHD service that I have helped pioneered in conferences/training sessions.

I was voted Clinician of The Year in 2017 in the NHS Trust I was working with, and this reflects my dedication and commitment to continue to develop my nursing practice and deliver the best nursing intervention to those in need.
