I was very, very fortunate to have Jill as my nurse during the build up and then the completion of my Whipple surgery performed by the wonderful Mr Jamdar at Manchester Royal Infirmary Jill was invaluable and a joy to speak to and so reassuring in so many ways. I can never thank her enough and she will remain in my thoughts forever.

Jill was absolutely indispensable and overachieving when it came to my pre and post cancer surgery treatment. She fully answered all my questions and put me at ease, and even helped in ways ahead of time with things that I hadn’t thought of. Her service was outstanding. Ryan H

The ERCP team at MRI were outstanding. Jill provided outstanding collaborative engagement, both before and after my procedures. The re-assurance I received, gave me piece of mind, knowing I could contact her at anytime to discuss any concerns I might have. Thank you for looking after me.

I visited nurse Jill Sibbald today. She was very helpful and explained a lot of queries I had about a procedure I'm expecting to undergo in 2 weeks time. I found her very friendly, and very easy to talk to, nothing was too much trouble for her and she set my mind at rest, she explained in detail how the procedure works, and answered the little niggles I had, I didn't feel rushed in any way. It's nice to have a bridge like Jill between the patient and the doctors. Keep up the good work Jill, you are doing a fantastic job

I have known Jill for the past 2 years due to having an on-going condition which requires an ECRP procedure every 6 months or so. During this time Jill has been my specialist nurse who I see prior to having a procedure. Jill has always been very kind, supportive and lovely throughout. She explains everything fully and listens to any concerns you may have and answers them openly and honestly. Jill goes above and beyond, going that extra mile. On one occasion I had the mis-fortune of having a little relapse after a procedure and required re-admission into hospital. Jill very quickly arranged this for me and finding a bed these days is difficult enough but she managed to have me re-admitted very quickly and everything turned out fine. Jill always telephones the day after any procedure to check on my welfare and is always at the end of the phone if you need any help or advice. Jill is a true professional in every way and would recommend her to anyone. Thank you for everything.

Specialises in

  • Gastroenterology

Qualifications:

  • Adult Nurse, Level 1

Profile

I began my nursing career at Wellington Hospital, Wellington, New Zealand in October 1981, where I trained as an Enrolled Nurse. Once qualified I began my career pathway working in general medicine, I then proceeded to further my experience in various fields including Care of the elderly, care for Young physically disabled clients, operating theatre and orthopaedic surgery.
On my return to England I retrained as a registered nurse at Salford University, where I successfully completed a Diploma in Professional Adult Nursing studies. My first registered nursing role was undertaken in Cardio-respiratory medicine at Hope Hospital.

The following 10 years I had the opportunity to refine my skills and increase my experience whilst working in a busy Endoscopy Unit .
It was during this period where I had exposure to ERCP/ biliary intervention that my interest grew, this experience allowed me to understand the needs of patients who undergo these procedures , it also enabled me to improve their experience and the quality of service provided.

In 2015 I was successful in gaining my current position, a new post as a specialist nurse for the ERCP service here at Manchester Royal Infirmary. This role requires me to be an autonomous practitioner with a high level of consulting, communication and assessment skills to enable me to deliver a high standard of care to patients with biliary disease.
This role gives me great job satisfaction therefore I continue to develop this nurse led service within medicine and as a core member of the Hepato-Panreato-Biliary specialist cancer service.
