I found my experience In A&E horrific
I am a cancer patient & undergoing chemotherapy, l was left on A&E majors for three days before l was moved, sharing 2. Toilets with at least 25 other patients l have a low immune deficiency, therefore l could catch anything, l was taking my own sanitizer wipes into the toilets trying clean whilst l was very poorly.
There should be another area for patients who are going through chemotherapy, every night someone kicked off so no rest or sleep had.
This experience has traumatised me.
When I attended for my annual glaucoma eye check I was given eye check which included a visual check , an eye pressure check , a field vision check and one other check which I’m not sure was for , similar to a retinal scan. But I was not given the opportunity to ask the consultant about my current treatment , I did mention this to the nurse who said she would pass it on to the consultant. I would like to voice my support for the doctors and consultants who I believe were on strike on that particular day .
Poor
Bit hit & miss with information but staff run ragged so understand
Everything seemed to take along time but satisfied with outcome
There was a long wait to be seen initially in the main a&e triage in atrium area. An hour or so later my paper work was ready for me to go to the selection. I got lost going there. Eventually there was then confusion about whether I about which department I should be as I had two sets of notes with different depth on them. Plus I had an additional shet referring to someone else altogether.
Initial blood tests finally followed then I saw another doctor. Then I had an ultrasound scan and was sent back to wait. The waiting area seemed to get more unpleasant as the late evening became early hours. Police were patrolling the area and the toilet was in an area surrounded by hooded individuals prowling around, followed by police officers.
Eventually I was admitted.
All so good thank you
Waiting times for A&E were ridiculous. Paying taxes? What for? Waiting hours on end in a room with no ventilation, staff can’t tell you how long anything will be.
After Covid, I waited for over 2.5 years of worry and pain for this appointment. During which my hands and arms go numb on compression and Painfully come back to life and I can get very little sleep and I am permanently tired. My scans were over two years old. I was told that there were lots of points of damage and that operations would not be of any great assistance to me. I was told of pain relief medication and that physio might be of assistance.
I was seen promptly. The doctor went through all results clearly and using plain English so that I understood everything and volunteered follow up advice and procedures clearly. His manner was professional and friendly and he put me atcease throughout the entire consultation.
All good
