Unbelievable waiting times and no medical help. I had to wait almost 13 hours to see a doctor. I spent 13 hours writhing in pain in the hospital and had to beg for something to help with my nausea. By the time the nurse was due to give an update, the nursing staff had already changed over and the wait for the doctor had extended by another 3 hours. The pain was unbearable and I was coming in and out of consciousness with no help. Everyone (staff) is too overwhelmed to have time to care. Genuinely can’t think of a worse hospital and hospital experience.
Left in corridor with around 15 other patients on trolleys for around 6 hours bloods and examination carried out in the same area in front of everyone also people walking passed was told of possible issue why taken to hospital but not treatment given and told to see GP for medication if pain persist to return for further test to rule out possible heart attack so I could still be walking around in a attack as pain is still there but have no faith in this hospital GP has been monitoring better even though advised me to return back to A&E
I have no fault with my treatment from A& E right ip to my treatment and care in the ward
They were thorough when treating me and made sure I had the answers before I left, they also gave me advice on what to do after I left hospital
Very quick tests. Waited a long time for results but as expected. Heard within days for my referral so very pleased overall!
From the first moment I was checked I was treated so fast & well, I cannot fault it.
I was directed from urgent care to eSDEC. The nurse who saw me, did,nt introduce himself or explain what was to happen. He said i would blood tests, and when i asked which ones, he just said blood tests for the pain. He then directed me to turn right and right again. I asked where i was going, and he said eSDEC, i said i thought i was there already, he said yes, but not here. I think his command of English was lacking.
On entering the waiting area, i did,nt know what to do, was i to take a seat, book in-but where, or just sit down. After a couple of hours i dared to enter the clinical area, and tried to catch the eye of any nurse, to ask if i could get an indication of when i might be seen. Her reply was curt, "no we cannot give a time" that was it. I was sent away with a flee in my ear.
To cut a very long saga short, no one in there right mind wants to go to A&E, and when we do, we know there is long waiting time. I eventually saw a Dr, and finally had a CT scan at 4pm. At 6pm i asked a very nice nurse if my report was ready yet, she seemed surprised it was not, and explained that she will look into it. This she did, and said something along the lines, that they will have to get a private firm to do the report. This is a regional hospital-did you not have your own radiographers?
Anyway, eventually i was given the report, had IV antibiotics, and a further prescription.
Apart from one nurse and two of the Drs, i found the nursing staff, were very poor communicators. Please ask the head of nursing to reiterate that patients need explanations and their questions answered.
I am a retired nurse/midwife, and i felt ashamed at some of the HCAs/nurses i came across
I was there in total from 7.30 am to 21.45.
On the plus side, the tea trolley was wonderful
Very friendly and told me all that was going on
The Doctors and nurses were very professional and took care of me throughout the whole time. Thank you
Done early, very friendly, instructions clear.
