Staff morale is very low, and transparent in their care. The wait time was long, and largely impacted by the unbearable heat, women with high BP were being affected. . The waiting room and triage room were unbearably hot. When admin were asked to raised this with maintenance or asked if any fans were available the receptionist was politely dismissive, and said I can sit by the window. But nothing was actually actively done. I asked to speak to the service manager and that was also dismissed.
Came in for a post natal check in triage, waited with engorged breast in instance heat.
Slow staff, no urgency about anything.
Blue lighted by ambulance and went to resus immediately. Put on IV fluids and antibiotics and then left in the corridor (classed as resus step down) for 13 hours on a trolley. During that time saw 1 doctor who said I was being admitted and waiting for a bed. Obs done one in 13 hours and given a cup of tea and sandwich even though I was barely awake.
After 13 hours I was taken into majors where I was transferred onto a bed. After 2 hours in majors I was taken to MRU.
Have been there from 11am with chest pain. Ecg and blood test done. Waiting for the Dr to review the results. After 4hrs, I asked how long do I need to wait, they told me they can't tell but they can only tell me that I was 7th in queue. After calling 7 people, I asked again why I have not called yet, they couldn't not my note, and this was around 8pm. The night nurse in charge told me that she will try to find my note and allocate me to be seen by next available Dr. 2hrs later a Dr called to tell that with the blood results and ecg done, there is nothing to be worried about, the day staff would have discharge me as soon as they saw my results. As I was still in pain, he ask for x-ray and I left hospital around 1am with pain killer.......
There was not enough information about wait times. Nurses were not willing to give a rough estimate. At King George’s hospital wait times are displayed clearly. Everyone knows that they’re not exact. I just wanted to be reassured and updated regularly. Some had been waiting up to 8 hours already and were very vocal about this. This did put a downer on things.
On arrival, very speedy and organised initial assessment.
After which it went down hill — was moved to a waiting room with 20+ people waiting, and had to wait there for 14+ hours not being told anything or being seen by any nurses or Drs.
In the end we had to chase the nursing staff as to when I would be seen.
When you feel unwell this is very poor not being told what’s going on and to wait for such a long time is unacceptable which in turn makes you feel more unwell.
Awful 24 hours waiting on the metal chair or even the floor. No one cares if you are in pain or danger. Non professional nurses keep poking your hands trying to get into vein. After taking blood they poke you again for inserting cannula (why can’t it be done in one go. All my hands are in a horrible bruises). In the end I got no diagnosis and was sent back home with pain
Left in corridor without food or drink. Was not told what was happening. Incontinent and left for hours. Was not given my medication
Had to wait over 12 hours to been seen by a medical staff after initial triage. The long wait is unacceptable especially when anyone go to A&E only in emergency. There is no indication of when one will be seen.
Despite the staff feeling us that ithe wait will be over 10 hours after the initial triage, patients are not given the option of going back home and returning after 10 hours. Staff was very clear that if anyone leaves, the clock will reset when they come back the next day.
Sitting for over 12 hours, with suspected stroke and no option to go back home and get a little rest - I felt even worse than at the beginning of this ordeal. Surely there is a better way to manage, with some consideration shown to patients who are already suffering. Very disappointed
The wait time was ridiculous. We arrived at 11pm and at 2pm we were told we would have to wait 12-14 hours to see a doctor, this was after x-rays and blood tests were already taken. We self discharged only to find out days later that my Mum had had a heart attack.
I was kept in the loop and no treatment was done without firstly being given a full explanation
