I cannot show my appreciation enough. Excellent is a word. Trust in the person or persons is what I personally felt. Thank you very much for the attention you gave me and pulled myself through a difficult time.

Review of L46 Hand & Plastic Day Unit (1116) written by a patient
21st November 2017

The injury could have been life-changing, impacting even the most basic tasks. 'Thanks' feels inadequate given the circumstances, but sincerely thank you to the whole team for giving back to me the normal use of my hand. What you call a day job is remarkable to me. I regret that I do not remember all the names. The (I think South African?) anaesthetist and the lady assisting with my block were as kind as they were skillful. The surgical team were fantastic - I actually slept through much of the procedure, such was the atmosphere of calm confidence.. The anaesthetist came through, mid-surgery, at the shift change and had a quick chat in theatre. The nursing staff before surgery and in dressing reviews were personally caring - there was no sense of 'production line' despite always busy clinics. They were careful with the wound and conscious of comfort. Sam, my physio, was brilliant. The ladies in the splint area were a great team and a pleasure to deal with. Procedures were much in evidence - constant checking of my details on all visits. And in particular pre-surgery when every person asked me what I was having done, to which hand etc. Ward reception were warm and several recognised me by the end, which was great (but always checked details). As an aside it's a depressing but necessary step to be handed a 'dont abuse the staff' leaflet at the outset - just unthinkable that staff have to deal with that. My care sat across several teams and staff were careful to help with the interfaces - often coming with me to the next team to seek appointments at roughly similar times, which makes a big difference (eg physio/splint/dressing). It felt like a well-oiled machine (safe and with good control systems), made to work by a fantastic team with clarity of purpose and pride in what it does. Really, really appreciated.

Review of L49 Children's Day Case Unit (1159)
9th November 2017

Staff were all very friendly and patient with our son and towards us. Questions were taken seriously and answered and my son was spoken to directly. Great to have a 'Where's Wally' book to look at during the anaesthetic procedure and computer game to play with after recovery and before discharge. Thank you.

Review of L36 Postnatal Ward (0994) written by a patient
24th October 2017

I would like to thank you for everything that was done for me on the Postnatal Ward. Having my first child is scary enough but everyone I came across was extremely helpful and made the experience an amazing time with my son. I would like to personally thank Rachel (breastfeeding support worker). She was nothing sort of amazing and I can safely say that I would not be breastfeeding today if it wasn't for her. She took the time to help me and reassure me when my baby wouldn't take to feeding straight away. She was friendly, knowledgable and professional. I really hope you can pass on my gratitude to her.

Following my operation two days ago at the LGI I reacted very badly to being informed I would be staying overnight for observation and although it had been a long stressful day my behavior and unsavory comments were completely unacceptable. I can only hope that the people who witnessed my reactions will forgive me and accept my humble apology, it had been a long and stressful day for them too but they carried on giving me unbelievable care.
