I was treated on March 24th when I severed my thumb.
I was seen quickly by triage, orthopaedic doctor and surgeon.
I was given a choice between admission & IV antibiotics before surgery the next day or surgery that day under local anaesthetic, and I chose the latter.
Everyone from theatre staff to surgeon to ward staff were informative, professional and friendly.
I was only in the ward an hour then allowed home.
My total time was six hours between having the injury and being back home. Impressive!
Many thanks to all involved.
Throughout my pregnancy, my midwife has been fantastic. I've been given the option to be seen by health visitors also for support and info if needed which is amazing.
However, during my 12 week scan (back in December) the Sonographer was miserable, rude and abrupt. Didn't like us asking questions and completely ignored my husband. I was nervous about having the scan but extremely excited at the same time ... I then had to have a C02 test by a student. As I have an unusual name which some people find it difficult to pronounce, she shouted "chow mein" which she found hilarious. As a qualified Nurse myself, I found this highly unprofessional and extremely insulting that she didn't just ask what the name said. She continued to laugh once I told her how to pronounce my name. Both these experiences on the same day ruined seeing my baby for the first time.
Luckily, my 20 week scan was wonderful (a different sonographer).
Staff are very friendly and informative very busy
Really poor experience just when you need it most in a and e
As far as asthma treatment both in and out patient I can't fault. On all other occasions as inpatient you are surrounded by a lot of very UN caring people that are in wrong job or just don't care, from cleaners to some of the consultants. It's about time they remembered the word caring and about Active listening and time to listen. I'm an impatient as I write this , but am thoroughly dissappointed with care, communication or lack of, being included in treatment plan (A joke in itself). If wasn't for my Asthma consultant I wouldn't touch the place and as for cleanliness and all the training they allegedly receive well speechless !!!!!
The worst hospital in the country, especially ward31-----avoid at allcosts.
Very good every one was great .
I have been in and out of hospital throughout my pregnancy both Sherwood birthing unit and the maternity ward have been absolutely fantastic.
I was rushed into emergency surgery for a strangulated hernia, spent a night on ICU where I was very well looked after then sent to the maternity ward. Even though the surgery was pregnancy related they thought id be more comfortable and looked after there. I cannot thank the whole team throughout my experience down to the cleaners, cooks, nurses, midwife surgeons and the list goes on. In the past my experience has not been great however the whole team and process I experienced was amazing. They are all a true asset to the team and the medical profession.
Thanks to all of you for potentially saving mine and my babies life.

I went with problem in my right eye. I expected to be waiting for a long time but was seen in about an hour and a half which I thought was quite reasonable. The doctor who helped me gave a very thorough eye inspection and after all his checks diagnosed conjunctivitis and gave me a tube of ointment. I have been using it as advised and the problem is clearing very well. I cannot praise the service I received enough.
We were so impressed by the high standard of care provided by every member of staff we encountered in Sherwood Birthing Unit. Everyone, from the midwives and doctors, to the staff on the phone and the people who delivered the food, were professional, knowledgeable and caring. The cleanliness of the delivery suite was excellent and there were high standards and expectations throughout. I would like to pass on a personal comment about the midwife who helped deliver our baby - Sharon Anderson. She was amazing - a true professional, with excellent knowledge and understanding and a really caring manner. She was outstanding.
Both our children were born in Kings Mill and both had to have some form of intervention, one C-section and one kiwi and episiotomy, and I truly believe that I wouldn't have my babies without the help of the staff at the Unit. I would highly recommend the unit to anyone and think that the staff deserve praise and thanks for their hard work and dedication. I am so grateful to everyone who helped us with our birth. Thank you.
