Just want to say visited kings mills hospital on the 15th July 2023 with my mother in law and the the a@e department where fantastic all the staff doctors where so caring and when we took mother in law to stroke Department ward they where absolutely fantastic thankyou to you all
Bad experience trying to book an 'Urgent' outpatients appointment for 6 weeks (the earliest they could offer) even though I have already been diagnosed and just waiting to start treatment for a severe chronic condition. and very poor experience and no communication following a call the 'Patient experience Team'. It comes to something when you have to complain about the complaints dept.
This hospital is a very poor second rate facility, and I would not recommend it to friends or family. Do yourself a Favour and go to QWMC instead, at least they treat you like a human.
From start to finish I was treated very kindly and by caring staff.
A &E does not really deal with pregnant women over 20 weeks, but the maternity triage would rather ask you to go to A&E first to sir there for 5+ hrs, when you have back pain, worse if you have PGP and sitting for long hours cause ls even more pain!! Only for A&E to try and get in touch with maternity for them to refer you back to them because you are far gone with your pregnancy and only a dr from maternity ward can make a decision. Only to go there and sit for another 4 hrs +
PLEASE IF A WOMAN IS OVER 20WEEKS SHE SHOULD GO STRAIGHT TO MATERNITY WARD WHERE THEY TRIAGE YOU, RATHER THAN WASTING TIME ASKING A HEAVLY PREG WOMAN TO SIT IN A&E FOR MORE THAN 5HRS !!
Extremely long waiting times, even after taking a covid swab had to wait another 2hrs before eventually going to the ward
Poor late/ overnight provision for paediatric emergency care. Waited in the department for over 3 1/2 hours with an unwell child to be advised they would need to speak to the paediatric on call registrar. It should have been apparent on arrival that a poorly child would need the experience and assessment of an appropiratlty trained paediatric doctor.
Also, witnessing nursing staff be very rude and disrespectful to patients was not something I ever expected in a healthcare environment. The same member of staff them being very abrupt with ambulance staff was also very difficult to watch.
I think there may be benefit in staff being provided communications training to ensure they are speaking appropriately to both other health care providers and, most importantly, patients.
A very disappointing experience.
Terminally Ill patient forced to go into a care home, when Consultants stated a nursing home was required.
Patient not given any say in where he was being moved to. The home was chosen by discharge team. No consideration for the family being able to get to see him.
Richard Mitchell it’s beyond time you came out of your ivory towers and faced the reality of the shambles this hospital has become.
No one in the place has a duty of care anymore
Lack of communication has a lot to do with lack of care.
Too many rude, obnoxious staff
Hospitals are not normally places you want to be in but my experiences of King's Mill are very positive. It's a helpful cheerful place where going the extra mile by doctors nurses and ancillary staff seems a matter of course. I was seen, appraised and operated upon with alacrity and success!
I had very kind and caring treatment/ care throughout my day case from all the staff. Mr Gale, T&O Consultant, explained everything to me and answer all my questions. He was very easy to speak to
I have been an inpatient on several occasions and cannot fault the care and treatment received at all
