Review of Clarke written by a patient
9th May 2015

I was a little nervous when I arrived on Saturday 9th may, but the ward team did their best to put me at ease. I received excellent care from start to finish. The food was surprisingly good, served warm, a good choice and on nice plates. The nursing staff were brilliant, patient, knowledgeable and treated all of their patients with care and understanding in a friendly way. I left feeling much better and very positive about the care I had received. Thank you and well done!

I attended day surgery. The whole procedure from admission to discharge was dealt with very professionally, very efficiently, and all the staff were very caring.

Care by the medical and ward staff was kind considerate and efficient The hospital administration was not of a similar standard -- two appointments for different scans booked for the same time and addmission for treatment postponed after the initial appointment for 9 days

Review of Treble written by a patient

The ward was extremely well run and all the staff worked together as a team. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Even when it was busy they found time to keep an eye on you. Everyone was pleasant and there was a good morale.

The staff were quite clearly caring and compassionate. The food was very good. The overbed light in my room was broken. Staff knew this, it was waiting to be fixed. The tv didn't work because there was no remote control. I heard that the dishwasher was broken (but was fixed) and there was discussion about the oven working/not. There was no water the first night I was here. This is all additional pressure on the clinical staff, it sounds like the infrastructure needs more care. I was in for tests, not actually ill, but was treated very respectfully and kindly by all.

Review of Marlowe written by a patient

I am a patient with 15 years experience of emphysema - I stopped smoking fifteen years ago. I am a member of the British Lung foundation - regularly looked after by a consultant and team of respiratory nurses in Hampshire - I moved to Kent for the air and to be near my daughter. My admission to hospital was via ambulance called out due to severe exacerbation of COPD. and a very high temperature. I do not remember much after arriving in hospital I believe I was delirious . I was admitted 30th March and discharged 02nd April 2015. Leaving hospital the five pledges in the discharge book were not discussed with me at any time. During my hospital stay I do not remember eating anything as I was feeling sick and often wretched on an empty stomach. I was asked what I wanted for dinner but could not face food but at no time did any member of staff talk to me about not eating I had no appetite and cannot remember any member of staff helping me with this. I was mainly left to myself no idea what was happening .I was then discharged again no idea why I certainly was no where near being well and back home I still have the cough and am gradually getting better but this has been an experience I never want to go through . again , To top this off a Junior Doctor was quite nasty tome on the day I was discharged, I left this hospital feeling totally wiped out and cannot remember any member of staff being kind to me. I arrived home to be told that I would now be full time on oxygen with a new machine in situ. will hopefully never go back to that ward fortunately I have support of family and friends helping me back to good health. When all about you is chaos it is important to retain a sense of humour.
