He didn't know what to expect

The outcome: 1.There was only a 'working diagnosis' and 2. the staff were only given one outcome option (following the guidelines) - CBT counselling. My son was suicidal and it's clear that there is something going on within HIM that needs to be investigated further to understand why he's having the difficulties is his and then putting in place the most effective treatment. CBT as a first option is just stabbing in the dark; a "let's try this" approach (wasting resources) rather than a medical diagnosis and then TARGETTED treatment. You are doing more harm than good by delaying access to the CORRECT treatment eg. if I had leg pain, went to a doctor and they said, well in 70% of cases it needs physio, so "let's try Physio", you would do more damage to the leg if it was broken, the right treatment if it were a sprain and missing the correct treatment if it was arthritis. How can you treat a problem when you haven't identified it?
