I have had surgery to remove prostrate because of cancer. I found east Kent hospital to be very caring, I was treated in Kent ward ward I'd 0027 and was delighted with the comfort that was given to me by the doctor.
Our midwife Tracy Powell was very helpful and down to earth, giving helpful advice and answering any questions and putting our mind at rest when needed. The amount of appointments was about right but was sometimes hard to attend when working as could only book a Wednesday. The student she had with her also was extremely good, confident and knowledgeable.
I did feel there could be improvements to the antenatal class the journey. It is a shame it is only one day for a few hours in the morning. The group we felt was too large to be interactive and things were rushed through. We also felt it would benefit from being more hands on rather than class room style and would help getting more tips of how to look after your baby.
I have felt it is a shame that since I had my baby, my 3 follow up appointments have all been with different midwifes or student midwifes rather than Tracy our midwife. I feel it is a shame, she doesn't get to follow us right the way through.
Also my sign off appointment was completed by a student midwife at Newlands centre. I do not have a problem with being treated my a student but there was no midwife present at all, checking on how she was doing.
Surgery was very good no complaints. Thought some nurses left rubbish around tables which should be cleared after finishing care.
Overall good service
I received great care from Marika my midwife throughout my pregnancy. Cannot fault the standard of care at all. Almost sorry my pregnancy is now over as won't see her anymore. She is always friendly and professional and eased my concerns if i had any and we could have a laugh at the same time. I can honestly say i will miss her and i reiterate how happy i am with the service provided. Thank you.
Midwives always available and full of information and guidance.
Very good care from midwife when in contact with her, difficulty having contact outside of booked appointments, personally I prefer consistency in midwife care but have seen different midwives, sometimes with students and I'd prefer only one person not more .
Antenatal classed /workshop have been very helpful, a shame not all were available.
Sarah Harry my midwife was very helpful and supportive.
Everything explained so well, felt really cared for and looked after, ladies are really lovely very happy.
Very helpful and reassuring. Willing to answer all my questions and put my mind at ease.
