Our midwife Tracy Powell was very helpful and down to earth, giving helpful advice and answering any questions and putting our mind at rest when needed. The amount of appointments was about right but was sometimes hard to attend when working as could only book a Wednesday. The student she had with her also was extremely good, confident and knowledgeable. I did feel there could be improvements to the antenatal class the journey. It is a shame it is only one day for a few hours in the morning. The group we felt was too large to be interactive and things were rushed through. We also felt it would benefit from being more hands on rather than class room style and would help getting more tips of how to look after your baby. I have felt it is a shame that since I had my baby, my 3 follow up appointments have all been with different midwifes or student midwifes rather than Tracy our midwife. I feel it is a shame, she doesn't get to follow us right the way through. Also my sign off appointment was completed by a student midwife at Newlands centre. I do not have a problem with being treated my a student but there was no midwife present at all, checking on how she was doing.
