Lots of lovely people working really really hard- however reception are often rude and hard to talk to over the phone and in person due to their short mannerism and occasionally unhelpful advice. I do appreciate this is due to long hours and a busy practice however it makes going to the doctors an unpleasant experience. The practice is massively over prescribed and getting an appointment is almost impossible even when booked months in advance. The working hours of doctors and nurses also make it exteremly difficult for those of us who work full time and cannot have lots of time off - this is then not helped by the opening times of the practice, especially by not being open at least one night a week for a later time or being open on a Saturday for a few hours as the majority of other health centres are.

I joined this surgery as a student more than 20 years ago and, despite no longer having an association with the university, have never left. The staff - doctors, nurses and receptionists - are extremely professional and responsive. The walk-in system operated in mornings means that you are able to see a nurse or doctor as appropriate (they operate a triage system) without delay. I have always been impressed by the kindness and calmness of the medical staff, and have valued the time they take to listen, answer questions, and make sure that you are fully informed and involved in decisions.

It’s not every surgery where the receptionists, nurses and doctors go to the bother of learning your name properly or even recognising you when you see them. Also not all surgeries are open when you need them. This surgery has a late night policy, specialist nurses, nurse practitioners, a phlebotomist on staff and everyone really tries their best to ensure you get the care that you require rather than treating you as a number (which with the number of students that pass through their doors would be really easy to do) but as a person with specific needs and requirements. That is what makes this surgery so great the people in it!!!

Impersonal, and staff can be rude. When you are ill you are worried, but the staff told me that unless I was chronically ill it wasn’t enough for them to be interested. It made me feel like I wasn’t cared for or worth their attention.
