Avoid this surgery at all costs! The reception team are extremely rude and act as if helping you is a chore. I have an ongoing condition that is still under investigation but have been denied care by the reception team. When I have called or gone in to ask for an appointment or for them to ask the Gp for advice this has been denied. I have been told that I am able to get to the surgery even though I am bedbound unless my partner is around. The general atmosphere in this surgery is diabolical. Reception team let the whole surgery down which is a massive shame.

Once you've been with an useless surgery it makes you realize and appreciate this one. I've only been here this year and in such a short time I have had better care from both two of the doctors I've seen and healthcare assistant.I did not leave lightly as a long term chronic pain sufferer I thought maybe better the devil you know! But it came to a head when it was up to a receptionist if you got to see a doctor or not so I took the bull by the horns and moved after speaking with some friends that are using practice, best thing I've ever done. Even the receptionist staff are all lovely and helpfull. I know some people moan about the waiting times but that happens everywhere you go, for the treatment you receive at the end of it sure is worth it.

I attended Peter Street today having not been there for a number of years. I found the atmosphere calm, the receptionists helpful and the practice nurse could not have been more reassuring.

My foreign born wife went to this surgery because of itchy skin which was keeping her awake at night. She saw 5 different doctors here, each giving her a different diagnosis and treatment for the symptoms - often steroids. None of these cleared the problem or were much if any help. She was referred to a specialist who was even less help. After 4 months of distress and loss of sleep she went elsewhere and they cleared the issue in 2 weeks. After that she felt she could only rely on this practice to order blood tests and x-rays. She changed surgeries to another local one she is much happier with.

My experience in consultations with Peter Street Surgery’s doctors is that they are continually checking the time and reminding me of the 10-minute limit – even when more time may genuinely be required to deal with a health issue. If the limit is exceeded, the doctors can become impatient and, at times, even a little short-tempered. I appreciate that doctors work under quite significant pressures but, as a patient, I have found the continual reminder of time limits at consultations to be stressful. It has made me hesitant to book appointments because I feel that asking for a consultation at Peter Street is an imposition on the doctors. At times, I have felt it preferable to attend at an A & E. Despite this apparent level of time pressure on the doctors, Peter Street apparently continues to be accepting new patients, which is puzzling. The doctors at Peter Street surgery could learn from the receptionists and nurses there, who have a more empathetic and pleasant ‘bedside manner’, while still being conscious of the time constraints they work under.
