What the happened to this place? I'm 46, just had a heart attack and they didn't bother to phone me, just sent a text message. Fought to speak to a Dr, said I thought this wasn't how it should be, I had lost faith in my relationship with the surgery, and this had played a part in my declining health - I had ongoing symptoms and health concerns that I had bottled up in the previous years because I felt they were brushing them off. He just waffled at me for thirty minutes before offering me a blood test and... another text book. The receptionists are better, but it's usual to join a queue of 20 to speak to one. at least they are organised, and quick. One was even sympathetic. As for bedside manner, Dr Gilman was scattergun and stressful to talk to, regardless of coldly / inanely ignoring my situation and verbal pleas to sort it out and rebuild trust. Whole patient stuff appears not to be on the agenda. 'It's a problem for the entire NHS' is not an excuse, the man should take responsibility.
I found it desperately stressful, but TBH I've been avoiding talking to them because this is how it was going anyway. Back until 2016 things were very good. Appts were easy to get, and the doctors communicated well with me and each other, and were organised. But they never assigned me another doctor when Dr Tinnion left, they let me go round in circles. Then never assigned me another when Dr Collier left. And here we are. 46, heart attack, complicated conditions in the background, new ongoing symptoms, high stress, a collapsed relationship with the surgery, and the guy wants me to speak to the new hire, on the phone.
FWIW, the last new hire at Meadowcroft couldn't even recognise shingles.
I have been with the surgery since 2010 and am only leaving as I am moving to a new area of the country. All staff - receptionists, nurses, phlebotomists and doctors have been nothing but helpful, understanding and caring. I have never had a problem in getting my repet prescriptions or getting an appointment on the odd occasion I have needed it. My new surgery will have to go a long way to beat the excellent service I have received from Meadowcroft.
Thank you
Terrible- diagnosis over phone with pictures via a paramedic not a doctor- before covid signs everywhere saying coughs & sneezes spread diseases - but sanatiser bottles empty -appalling reception staff playing god-
Absolute disgrace of a practice-
It takes ages to get a reply on the phone even at eight oclock
Very impressed with the Practice. We always manage to get an appointment even though the waits on the phones are long but I like the fact you let us know how many people are ahead of us so we can have a rough idea of how long it will take. Receptionists are always friendly. Your recent Saturday flu clinic was excellent and very well organised. We were in and out within a couple of minutes. Keep up the good work. You are the backbone of our wonderful NHS.
