I was advised to visit the eye clinic at Kingston Hospital within 24 hours of my appointment - unfortunately the service only runs until 5pm so I needed to wait until the following day. After checking the website for the clinic opening times and to organise a visit I saw that "A&E patients have to be referred by a GP or optician - this is not a walk in service". I was somewhat surprised I had been advised to go, but a referral hadn't actually been made. When calling Glenlyn to get this fixed I was advised by reception that I could get a call back tomorrow which would take me closer to 48 hours before even getting the referral. I managed to get a call back fairly quickly - however still no referral obtained. I guess I'll have to chance my arm (or eye if you prefer) and just turn up. Frankly a bit disappointing all round.

This will only take a review if one chooses "likely" to recommend surgery. I have tried several times with Extremely Unlikely and review is not accepted!!!!!! If I had to say what is great about the service, this panel would remain blank! The only helpful professionals are the pharmacist and the phlebologist. Have never seen the same doctor, and in three years at the surgery no-one has ever properly examined me - a real hands-off attitude - when I had been overprescribed steroids for arthritis I just got a gasp from the third doctor I saw. I am now paying £200 a month, which I can ill afford, to see a physio privately about my osteo arthritis. She recommends a cortisone injection, but I just cannot bear to start trying to sort this out at the surgery. I promise I am not one to run to the doctor but having desperately tried to cure cystitis myself for about a week I realised I needed a prescription. I spent all day going back and forth - managing to get a duty doctor to prescribe at 6.15pm, then a dash to the pharmacist. Annual checkup - you are joking.

Would it be possible for patients with long-term complex ailments to be able to see one or two specific doctors who are familiar with that patient? For my part, the quality of the care I receive very much depends on which doctor I am able to get an appointment with. I have a particular ailment which requires me to see THREE different consultants at Kingston Hospital and ONE at St Thomas' in London. If I am not able to get an appointment with one of the two regular GPs who know about my ailments (Dr Miller and Dr Ramscar), I have to start at the beginning each time.

Seem to be a lot of problems with this surgery. Reading the reviews on NHS Choices gives a good picture. If you get to see a good doctor at the surgery you are very lucky as there are a couple of very good ones, but otherwise things are pretty bad. Continuity of care is difficult to get unless you know a couple of weeks in advance that you'll need to see a doctor.
